Hey everyone,

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
First off, I'm going to assume those looking at this topic already know what I'm talking about, I don't exactly want to go through every character in the show, if your just interested and haven't seen the show and don't plan too just read along and enjoy I guess.

I recently got through Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, and watched the film (End of Evangelion) or what is considered to be the final two episodes.

It was a very interesting series dealing with many different themes, most of it being psychology I would guess. I for one, am curious what did people think?

On another topic within this topic, the end of The End Of Evangelion, where Shinji and Asuka end up on the beach alone. How did you interpret the ending?

The way I saw it was that Shinji had originally wished for the world to end and for all the souls were collected and formed into a single being that had no real emotions or feelings or independent thoughts within. After a chat with Rei in his mind he decides that he feels that he made a mistake and that he wishes people to be independent entities and be able to think and feel and have emotions. He is then willed back to earth with the one other human being in a Evangelion. They are now on a beach on a post apocalyptic earth with only each other and the other human souls that have formed into a primordial soup of life that I think is known as the LCL. Humans may now evolve from the LCL while Shinji and Asuka are stuck on the earth alone with each other.

Something that kind of stumps me is why exactly did Shinji proceed to choke Asuka? Was it too feel emotion once again? To get out hatred? And why did Asuka stroke his face? Was it to signify that she finally does love him? Further more! Why does she express her disgust at his tears?

Over all it was a very interesting series. Im Just curious what people think of my interpretation of the end and perhaps give your own interpretations.
