    Default Spqr + 1.3?

Does SPQR work with the 1.3 patch?
Also, does the 1.3 patch improve the AI?

I now lost a campaign because of the stupid AI, I was fighting a huge battle for my capital (me playing as julii, the gauls stormed me, been fighting them constantly even from the start of the campaign). Anyway, I had a 3000 men army, with a 2500 men army as reinforcement, wich the AI controlled. We went up against 5-7 thousand gauls. We took the first gaul army easily but when the gaul reinforcement came in my AI controlled reinforcement marched around in single groups, all exposed to cavalry attacks. They all got slaughtered pretty quickly and I lost my troops as well. If my AI ally would play it right we'd win.

Also, something else thats been buggering me. Everytime my AI reinforcements enter the map, he charges with his general into spearmen all the time. Loosing my general, thats just .. annoying.

Something else bothering me ( ) is that when an enemy attacks one of my cities, he just stands outside the city doing nothing. Sometimes he has sent his siegetowers and ladders towards the wall, but some of the ladders stop before they reach the wall. And they are all exposed to missile fire.

Ugh, stupid AI. Anyway, I've heard the AI is better in the 1.3 patch so I'm just wondering if the 1.3 patch will work with SPQR?

1.3 has its faults as well.

"When a man steals your wife there is no better revenge than to let him keep her." - Sacha Guitry.

Is the AI improved in 1.3?

Well, the Load/Save bug is gone.

However, there are 2 new bugs:

    1) Roman AI don't throw pilums
    2) Roman AI can't expnad navally.

Also the AI is not any different in 1.3, it is slightly for BI but not 1.3, I think they did that on purpose to make people buy BI. if you noticed CA has started its silence treatment again not talking to us. I really think RTW is abandoned now and they are working on another title which I wont buy, and if I do wont be until its bargin bin so they dont get my support.

We are still collating feedback (as some of you correctly noted) from BI and it is to early to release and official statement. However as far as I am aware the situation is along these lines. We certainly intend to patch BI and most likely update the 1.3 patch as well. I'll keep you posted on developments but as I said it's to early yet for a an official line on this.
So no, they have not abandon the game

Seeing is believing. I'm sorry but after BI and the 2 major bugs that they wont fix right away like they did for 1.1 I would say they abandoned the game. If I am wrong and I hope I am GREAT! but I wouldnt hold my breath, and what good does the patch do 1 year from now after they released there new version and there is no one left to play RTW except us who made the mods. I dont plan to work on a 1.3 or BI product and wait and HOPE they release a patch to make the game fun and playable. The AI not throwing a pilum and the Navel invasion bug are serious almost as serious as the mixup on the Primary weapon bug, except this time it hinders the AI badly for the Romans. Since this is a Roman game and not Shogun or Medieval it has very bad effects. And if they dont release a patch then the work put on making a BI compatible version was wasted. I think alot of our mods for 1.2 are great and 1.3 doesnt offer that much more to say its a MUST like 1.2 was. BI has some nice features but again same bugs and some other modding issues.

I Support fully any modders or Teams that make a mod for 1.3 or BI more power to them, But for me and How I see RTW its not worth it at this time. Maybe "IF" they release a patch yes but until then..... Plus the statement I CANT promise there will be another patch is a BAD sign, always before they said there WILL be a patch etc. This time is MAYBE. Thats not good, especially when CA showed me all they are interested in is the Money and not their product. I know this is a 180 degree change for me, but I give enough rope for one to hang themselves and they just did with 1.3 and BI.

Again I hope you right and I am wrong, I just wouldnt hold my breath or you might Die. lol

Are you sure it is worth not buying the next title?

Surely at the end of the day, no matter whom made it, if you enjoy it, and it doesn't ruin your life, then you should buy it?

Lt's thoughts are that CA is screwing us so he doesn't want to support them, and they may do shoddy work on the next one, just like BI and 1.3.

True, but RTW was a truly great game. As was MTW and STW1

I got far more enjoyment out of MTW and STW than I ever did out of RTW. This is vanilla of course. RTW mods like LT's onwn SPQR are its only saving grace.

I happily paid $30 for BI; RTW itself is worth $50+30
I also lost my original Morrowind I bought for $50; I got the MW pack with the two expansions bundled for $30.

For the hundreds of hours I've put into these games, they have been well worth their money.

Why, I got a lot of enjoyment out of Vanilla and the mods are just like a second lifelinfe.

Yeah, I spent two months of my summer vacation immersed in R:TW, then I got bored and discovered Mods, here I am 4 months later

Because when you older you dont like the games that CA produce which was nothing more the a console game in PC clothing. lol But after the Mods it resembled the games we all liked. Both of you are young and used to playing games like this and listening to certain music, by generation is different and the type of tripe CA released on us we didnt like, so we mod it. I only played the vanilla a little bit and never played a true campaign because it was that BAD. I looked for Mods ASAP in hope of something better. Look at the cartoon skins they didnt, when originally they werent going to.

Personally I think they used RTW as a show of what they can do with a console game to switch to that other publisher. It smeels of console like no tomorrow. Green arrows anyone?

See, they haven't abandoned the game
