Oh, for Heaven's sake, now you're being deliberately stupid.

Wudang why did you close the thread? Because you can't find a source refuting mine? LoL how's the quest to ban me going?
Someone made a thread about this somewhere..though i can't remember where it was/who made it.
The thread explained that the next heir is chosen depending on who has the most authority. In one of the examples in the thread, the user created a trait that gave +5 authority, and that family member became heir 4/4 times. (s)he did the same thing with 3 other sons and each always became heir. If it's really bothering you, you can create a trait that gives authority and give it to who you want to be heir, use a trait that gives authority that's in-game, or if you're willing, you can "accidentally" kill your adopted heir to see if the actual son becomes the new one. Hope i helped!
(If anyone remembers that thread, please do tell)
Aren't you glad I bookmarked it![]()
Also I believe your talking about an ancillary, since traits can't be transferred.
However, if you read post #58 by gracul in that thread carefully, you may learn that when the actual heir has a son (either biological or adopted) then he will always be picked as next heir if the current leader dies. If he got more sons, then the leftmost will be chosen.
Age and authority factors kick in only when the current heir hasn't got any sons.

Actually, it's possible to set an underage family member as faction heir, but it can only be done before the start of a campaign (with slight modifications in descr_strat), as the game won't use the trick later.
Yeah, what a waste.![]()
he was under age, but I'm going back to an earlier save and wont let the king die until he gets to 14 years old. I wish Barbarossa was in the family tree.

The Enemy of Human Souls
Sat grieving at the cost of coals;
For Hell had been annexed of late,
And was a sovereign Southern State.
errr... not for me it isn't... just charge head on and then, when battle ensures, try to ride THROUGH the mass of enemies... preferably to attack a second unit behind the first... often the general gets surrounded and cut down and, if he tries to run away, get chased down... if it is rebels you meet, you won't get a chance for ransom and thus no bad trait for not buying his freedom...
works 4 out of 5 for me... although I recommend to attack spear or pike infantry rather than peasants or archers...
do a suicidal attack against a rebel army.... take the 'false heir' with only his bodyguards and attack the first big thing you see... when he dies, the "correct" heir will be chosen...![]()
So according to this thread, next heir is picked up by Authority. And if I make a trait that gives say +10 Authority or something and give it to the family member I want to be the next heir, he will actually become the next faction heir ? (When the FL dies at least). I read the post and it seems reasonable but I don't know how to make triggers or traits and such, can maybe edit the existing ones but I'm not sure. Is there are a sub-mod or an edited file for this that I can use ? Preferably for 6.2.
That's a nice idea... although I know that I have seen a mod that creates an ancillary that you can give to a general that is NOT the heir and gives 10 authority.... when the next heir becomes FL the new hair will be the one wearing this acillary... problem is that you can only choose the NEXT heir for the heir... and if that heir has a son that is not of age when the FL dies, then the next heir will be another general/family...
can't remember where I saw that mod though...
EDIT: aw heck... I think it was in that thread you just linked....![]()
Im going to restart and here is how I plan to make Barbarossa King
Henry IV ---- henry V (infertile no adoptions) ----- Frederick I von Hohenstaufen (grandfather of Barbarossa, lots of authority, so should get heir after Henry IV dies and V is king) ---- Frederick von Swabia (Barbarossa's father, make him infertile) ----- Barbarossa (as long as he spawn before his grandfathers death and has the most authority he should heir after Swabia)

Someting weird is when your 20 y old general adopt a 30y one(numbers are just for exemple)
Don't know if there is a issue to deal with it, for exemple adoption is Yold (father) - 15, someting like this....
Wasn't one of CA'S best moves not having a 'Choose Heir' option in a Medieval game were family relations and ties are very important.
