Yeah, you have to create a new unit then in export_descr_unit assign it to be the general unit of a specific faction.

    For instance:

so it need to be a new unit that take up units slot? I can't just add 'general unit' parameter on existing unit? and assuming we have empty unit slots, what would happen if I add a unit and make it bodyguard to all faction beside the original bodyguard unit? will the game crash or will it now randomly switch bodyguard type?

Well it could give it to any old unit I guess, but wouldn't you be putting said faction at a huge disadvantage? I thought you wanted something like the unique bodyguards from Broken Crescent.

EDIT: Oh, and don't forget to remove the changed faction from the bodyguard ownership list it was previously on.

You can just add it to existing units. The game wont randomly select units for bodyguards. It just uses the first unit it comes across in the EDU with the general_unit attribute.

Sorry for the little off-topic but does the "general_unit_upgrade" works with SS now ? I mean I remember in vanilla after a specific date (or armourer level) we could upgrade bodyguards to get the "late" version of them. Does this works now or do we need to switch "general_unit" attribute manually after for example 1370 ?

I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but the bodyguards of my Turkish general that start in Sinop consist in 200 Saracen Militia instead of the usual heavy cav.
    All normal ?

They have that in TATW, with Dwarven infantry generals and Dalish archer generals.
