It appears that the Savage CAI has a problem with jihad factions declaring peace with jhad target faction.
as far as i can see TheSavage is no longer posting on these forums - so assistance in sorting out that particular problem would be most helpful.

    problem described here:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=383457

thread has a couple of links to possible helpful items but I wouldn't know where to place them.

    -------------------------------------

been messing with descr_strat (nothing unusual thee been doing it for ages) but it's now throwing up a strange error:
starting early campaign I only get a bout 8 factions to choose from and this in system log:

    12:21:36.187 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/SS6.3/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_strat.txt, at line 25, column 1
Expected start date of campaign or battle.
which is in the middle of the factions list and not something I've touched.
and the factions on offer include venice and norway.

I expect I've made a simple error somewhere - should have kept all versions so i could compare with winmerge,
but it was working OK earlier and I only made a few changes
    (famous last words!!)
    ------------------------------

    Problem solved:
couldn't see problem with descr_strat in Notepad++ which is what I normally use.
only when I checked in Notepad to I discover that the file had been saved without its proper formatting.
    still looked fine in Notepad++!

so ditched the duff version and made mental note to try and avoid same error in future.

Anything on stone forts? Or shall I just cannibalise some code from previous versions of SS?

MC - if you want perm stone forts the RozMod has them (I should be posting latest full version later today)

it contains not only the kingdoms forts but all the stone castles (as settlements) as forts as well plus two pkh forts used by permission.

    Default Modding SS

    Evening!

I know this is not the correct place to be putting this question but I needed a really quick answer.

I want to tweak SS for my own use, just little things like names and units stats, so I was wondering if I still had to unpack the original vanilla files or could I play with the SS files directly?

For changes that only affect the SS files you shouldn't need to unpack - unless its a change that requires files that you need to unpack

A few are but most of the files are not.

Models, skins and textures and their arrangement in model_db, and probably the WORLD files are save-compatible. The files that effects campaign features are not save-compatible, like EDU and EDB.

Depends on what you change. Editing units and buildings is savegame compatible. Removing them is not.

Editing or adding buildings/units and models/texture is save-compatible (pretty much the kind of things Enhanced Lithuania does, for example, that's why it's save-compatible).
Deleting units or buildings will, I think, break your savegames (or at least deleting actually used units; for example Dismounted Turhagut isn't used in game so you can remove it), but editing files like descr_strat or campaign_scripts won't. These modifications will just take place on the next game you'll start.
