    Default Modern Movie Endings

Is it just me or has the ending of movies' in recent years really gone down hill. I don't know how many movies I've watched where I thought it was good and then the ending totally destroyed the point of the whole time. I saw Inception and I thought it was a good movie, then the ending totally destroyed the point of the movie.

    Thoughts?

So the movie involved a main protagonist getting a girl in the end... shocking plot why can't anyone ever leave that stuff out and just create something else interesting.

To be honest, endings has always been bad, the really good movies are those with a special ending
I liked the strange plot and super strange ending of "mr Nobody" and the end of "No country for old men", though I hate most typical movie endings

Because Hollywood can't make movies without "happy" endings... It just doesn't sell well with the american crowd to do otherwise...

That was pretty much my problem with 500 Days of Summer. They were doing so well up until that last scene.

What are you talking about Inception had a brilliant ending, better than most. It was very symbolic, got a rise out of the audience and left you with something to think about.

Well usually its the middle ground that can be annoying.

The particular plof of a love story where they first love each other, then the woman hates the guy over something he didnt tell her and then he does something to win her over again is getting incredibly tiresome. Sure would be nice if for once the woman doesnt care about it while the viewer expects it, that there just isnt such a fight/misunderstanding or that they just dont get back together with a hint of them meeting someone else.

Why, because its not a cookie cutter movie with a predictable ending?

I said the ending ruined the film, I love everything up until the last scene. Which I abhor.

The best endings to me are the ones that leave you thinking for a while after the movie, not necessarily confused, just mulling over what you have just seen. Not, yeah that was okay, what's for dinner? Some movies are just like that, I don't watch Transformers expecting some thought provoking moral message at the end of the film.

I know what you mean about thought provoking endings, I thought "Moon" had a brilliant ending. Capped the film off perfectly. And that's pretty recent, but a lot of films end sort of inconclusively today so they can milk the sequel. The A-team for example.

I really liked the end of Rambo IV too, it was simple, emotive, and a good end for John Rambo. My favourite ending is probably The Untouchables.

"Word is they're going to repeal Prohibition. What'll you do then?"
    "I think I'll have a drink."

    Roll credits, feel good.

I agree, the whole movie was fantastic imo, one of the best movies I've seen in awhile.

I don't know how I feel about the ending of The Prestige. Don't you undermine a trick by revealing the secret of how it's done? The structure of the film - moving from the pledge to the turn and finally the prestige - was great up until that point.

I loved There Will Be Blood, including the end, but my understanding is that many were put off by the strange turn it took.

the Ending of shutter island was pretty good. Most mainstream movies have had very generic endings and i dont think thats going to change
