Default Made in China - US military uniforms.

My brother, who recently joined the navy, has found something ironic on his uniform. A tag that says "made in china"....

I'm convinced that this country has no future when our definate future enemy and a real threat to democracy is actually making OUR uniforms. Makes me wonder what else they are doing for us, I am both insulted and disgusted by this. I'm not sure about the other services but I bet someone smirks in China whenever they look at our soldiers....

A lot of times I find irony hiliarious, but definately not here.

Why is it that people who are supposed to be "defending democracy" are wearing uniforms made by a Communist Authoritarian government?

Well, you guys are also supposed to be spreading the 'economic freedom' of free-market capitalism, so if China can make uniforms cheap then it'd be hippocritical not to let them make them.

Let's face it, both ideas are a myth, so why bother yourself?

Its the principle of the thing, we shouldn't let our future enemy make our uniforms.

It would be like hiring Al Qaida to do it, no different. Just that China hides the fact that they are our enemy and attacks us by infiltrating our industry and stealing technology just so they can be a rival superpower in the near future. I wouldn't doubt if we had a 2nd cold war against them, and THEY are making our uniforms?

Its insulting to anyone who lives in this country and the people who serve in the military.

Wow, you're already planning to become enemies to them? Oh yeah, and the fact that they want their economy to grow, is just so they can fight you...

    Wow...

    Wow...
Well, actually Germany did the same thing during 1939 to 1941.

William Sebold acted as a double agent, initially pressed to work for Abwehr (a german military intelligence unit responsible for foreign and military intelligence) but instead acted as an agent for FBI and helped FBI in a successful operation to foil the spy activities by Nazi Germany to steal many valuable technologies, such as Norden Bombsight.

No, but China is competing with the US and it will eventually be on the scale of the cold war. Complete with new "races" like another space race, new "gaps" like a space weapons or satillite gap, and covert actions. We never went to war with Russia, however they were our enemy.

Brits do the same thing, as long as Chinese workers get paid next to nothing China is going to produce everything from clothing to uniforms.

I can see now, if we went to war with China or embargo/cold war them all the new recruits will have to be in their regular clothes or underwear.

We'd just get our uniforms made in Malaysia.

This really doesn't surprise me. It shows how hypocritical some people really are.

ya this is almost as funny as china buying US planes, rairoads, steel, rubber, and computer chips. its no hypocritical, its business. where do you think the world gets its f16s and JSFs? the US and much of the first world also buys from latin american and SE asian countries that have numerous human right violations and despise the US. this is the way it has always been. you think thats funny, than imagine india buying missles form china and one day firing them back at the chinese.

I just looked at a couple of my uniforms, and all the tags say "Made in the USA."

EDIT: Oh here we go...My neckerchief was made in Malaysia. Anyway...Even if that particular neckerchief did happen to be made in the US, its entirely possible that there are tons of uniforms and uniform items that were made outside the US. I know several of my uniforms (Im looking at two different utility shirts now) have different labels, etc, indicating they were made in different locations.

That is nice to here that most of your stuff is made here. And even if some of it is made elsewhere, I have no problem with that. As said above me, if it is cheaper, than it is a good thing.
