Can an Africanvs become a Germanicvs?

I've been wondering if a character called Aulvs Africanvs (having the cognomen of a previous great ancestor who conquered Africa) can himself become great by conquering Germany and getting the cognomen Germanicvs, or if the fact he already has one will get in the way of that.

There's also another thing he can become, like it happened to me.
I had a Lvcivs Germanicvs in 3 BC , and wanted to make him Emperor, while suddenly he got hurt and became Lvcivs the Lame... It really sucked

Haha how did he 'get hurt'? I've never had that happen to me, usually they are born lame from birth in my campaign. Although I did have a general miss a stone bridge once and instead of crossing it he went straight into the water and died.

I've witnessed something even more bizare. It happened twice, once with the enemy (which was hilarious) and once with me which wasn't quite so funny.

I was engaged in a fight not paying attention to all my units, only that I ordered one to move from the wall. Suddenly, I noticed a unit of 242 men went red and dropped to 180 something... I went to investigate... some decide to take the stairs, the sensible option. Others, real men that they are, simply decided to jump in their tens right from the wall straight to the ground, plummeting to their deaths.

I never quite understood what happened...

LOL holy that's hilarious. Although when you're fighting an enemy on the walls, and they decide to rout, sometimes some of the enemy men will decide to jump off rather then get killed by a sword or a spear

Well, so far I've taken roughly 3 cities, defeated countless armies, have had two heroic victories, been claimed imperator, given a triumph, gone through with it, and still nothing after another battle with the Germans... I've checked the export_vnvs folder to see the requirements but couldnt work anything out... any ideas or suggestions?

It's based on a points system. I can't remember the exact numbers but small battles count for 1, large for 3, capturing a city anywhere from 5 to 10 and enslaving a city 2, once the character has around 25 points they get the cognomen. This is done on a per faction basis, so battles fought against the Aedui won't count towards the Germanicus cognomen for example.

The quickest way to get the cognomen is to capture and enslave cities repeatedly.

I've had my general (not a family member) run on top of a damaged wall (partly bombarded, not destroyed). He fell off the wall and died.

I am trying to work out to do it via the give_trait "Decimvs Romanvs" "GermanicusCognomen" way, but there is another Decimvs who gets it, and I have tried ''DecimvsA Romanvs" B C etc etc all the way up the alphabet, but he doesn't get any traits. I thought all you had to do was add a letter to the end of the first name?

Ok here are the correct numbers for you. When a character gets 20 points for the trait they get the cognomen

Enslave a city = 2
Capture Swebotraustastamnoz = 5
Win a battle where you kill more than 25% of the enemy = 1
Win a battle where you had more that 250 soldiers, the battle odds were 0.7 or less and you killed 25% of the enemy = 3

So if you only enslaved 3 of their cities and fought a bunch of battles, it's perfectly possible that you haven't reached the required point level yet.

According to that I should have:

3x2 = 6
+5 = 11
+ 3x1 = 14

I did have a heroic battle too (but im not sure what the odds were, can't have been more than 1:2 though)

The only thing I am worried about is the Sweboz only have two cities and stacks left.

I had a faction leader with whom I destroyed Macedon and Greece, and after that conquered Carthage...9 (*********) stars guy...so he was "Macedonicus" and after my north-african campaign he became "Africanus". A Blasio, if I remember right...
