    Default Having a Dumb Moment

    Guys,

I'm being a bit think here and can't get the console to find this character:

    Alcaeos Gonatas

    I've tried:

    Alcaeos
    AlcaeosGonatas
    Alcaeos_Gonatas
    Alcaeos Gonatas
    WhyCan'tYouFindThisDamnCharacter?!

The game didn't complain about not being able to find Alcaeos by itself, but the traits I'm trying to remove didn't change (Anger, Heamophobic).

The only times I have been able to get the console to find characters is by using their forename and then some luck, so I think it's just something I'm typing wrong.

    Cheers!

By the way Carados, cheers for your help last night!

I've seen that happen before with characters. Usually, I can get around it by loading an earlier save, but that's not guaranteed to work (and also really sucks if it entails having to re-fight a major battle or two). The character name should be "Alcaeos Gonatas," no underscore or lack of spacing. If the game isn't recognizing the trait, check your spelling. If all that is correct and it still won't work right, reload. And if that doesn't work, send the disturbed Macedonian off to his death, or at least keep him out of public places.

The spelling of the trait is fine, it's just that the game will never find a character when I include the surname.

Before when I've changed traits using the console, the character has always had an epithet, and would only change said character's traits when I used their forename and nobody else had it.

Have you tried putting the name in quotation marks, with spaces (as opposed to underscores)?

Worked a treat Quinn, thanks very much!

My guess is that the quotation marks make the game look for that name combination, rather than being unable to find it because the game goesn't know that it needs to look for both, resulting in it looking for the surname as a trait (in this instance).
