Centurion takes place in Britain during 100 AD, and alot with the Pics. The movie is nice if you don't think about some scenes of it, but you could not known everything, like that everyone of the group would die. The action was fine, the story medium not to great, but some part of it didn't make sense.

So far I've only seen the trailer(s). Somehow, "warrior chicks" with axes are a huge motivational retardant for me when I'm considering spending money on a film. Is it worth while in your opinion? Or just another "Hollywood history" film?

I thought it was a good movie, better than expected.

Battle scenes could have been better and larger but they were still good.

It's no Gladiator or Braveheart. Its pretty much a chase film set in ancient times. It sometimes provides good entertainment, but it doesn't have any depth.

The digital blood is also rather cheesy.

Well for a Roman fight movie it was done pretty well, I agree for most part with MathiasOfAthens

I was surprised at all the gore, the heads being lobbed off... anyone else feel like they overdid that. Im sure its realistic but its like they overdid it somehow.

And then theres the soldiers... they seem to have been drawn from all corners of the empire - numidian, greek, and someone far as far as the hindu kush (never understood how he got to rome though).

I thought this movie was really horrible.

From the lame story (Wannabe-Varus with make-up), to the props (smallish cheek pieces, anglo saxon helmets for the picts) finally to a protagonist with probably the least memorable face in cinema.

They got one thing right though:
Freedom Fighters always pwn Empires...'cuz they light thur ballz on fire and throw 'em at ya.

Actually I thought the armour and costums were about right. The anglo-saxon helmets, I noticed one of them, but couldnt see if it was strictly anglo-saxon and not just a pict version.

Not wannabe varus, its 9th legion in Pictland.

Hmm, on the Kurylenko scale? I'd say a 4, she's in it but doesn't speak or show some flesh
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

I enjoyed it. Much more gorey/violent than I anticipated which was a nice surprise. Don't expect anything amazing from it, though its a good watch and worth your time if you have not seen it yet.

I admitt being a bit petty here but cheek pieces imo are for protecting, not portraying the face of the helmet's wearer (left movie, right reenactor)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

As for the saxon helmets, I admit I probably would not have recognized the first as such without Arthurian - TW, the second is rather obvious though.

Let's see,a fictional story about the demise of the 9th Legion, with eerily similarities to the well documented actual historic events of the Teutoburg Forest...with a pretty lame script I might add.

I guess what EireEmerald posted made me judge it so harshly though, because judging from the few minutes of fighting you'd expect more than the movie manages to deliever - unfortunately.
