Hornet Throwers?

So I've been playing Kingdoms recently and I was playing as the Mayas. I had hornet throwers in my army, and they throw the nests but they don't seem to kill many people unless the nest makes impact. How do these nests work in the game mechanics?

It the same as rotten cows hand grenade. Unit take morale reduction for a limited time

I never really got that either...
Neither the Hornet nests or the rotten cows.
They never seem to make any notable impact. I´ve never even seen them having any effect on morale!
I mean, I would get the ---- out of there if a bloody HORNET nest dropped down at my feet! Not to mention if I saw a rottening COW-CARCASS (is that the right spelling?) come flying towards me.

I only use the rotten cows for the fun of watching the splashing meat ^::^

I really don't know how effective cows and hornets are. Sometimes I see no effect on the enemy troops, sometimes they're crapping themselves as they march towards me. It might have to do with their level of training, but it's still odd.

They don't immediately lower morale, but once the enemy gets scared by other things, they'll flee.

So their purpose is to create an extra demoralizing factor...
In that case, it takes a lot of skill to be able of working it into your strategy.

They lower morale. Kinda like a crappy shock troop. Anyways, you're better off using the Mayans' better units (i.e. Heavy Infantries.)
