Umm... no. Every age has its own mod and combining two would be just pointless.

You seem to emphasizing the ''evil'' factions a lot. If you could make them original and different from the other mods then go ahead.

I don`t think this idea is viable.

First, we haven`t much information about Harad- You would have to make so much stuff up that calling it still "Lotr" would be quite the stretch.

Secondly, the project is too ambitious. While you can do the very basics you need skinners and modellers; And finding those is damn hard.

If you want to make something like this you should start it as an submod for the third age total war mod.

First, i was planing on giving out more info. J.R.R. Tolkein left alot out of his books especialy in the area of neutral peoples(Harad, Khand, Umbar, Harondor, Rhun, and Dunland) I thought just to fill in some of those gaps.

Secondly, I see your point the only problem with a sub mod is in terms of files, coding, etc i cant do any of those. So my pan was to get help i give infor on well everything and they do the actual modding. I guess id be more considered a researcher.

It counts more than if you could do nothing.

It`s still better if you make it a submod. For one, you (and your team) could use some of the units already ingame; Thus reducing the work you have to do. Otherwise you would have to do them all from scratch. Much work.

(Still, you would have to ask the team whether you are allowed to use some units as basis to create new ones.)

While creating such a mod from scratch is very hard and needs much dedication, making a submod is much easier. (Still needs much work!) Thus people might actually believe that this submod might get finished somewhen- This is a good way to find modders who can help you.

Also, you`ll find most people interested in such a mod in the third age forum.

Yep Lordinquisitor is indeed very right, that would be the only possibility for your mod idea to "survive" i think...

    Also, something else.

I`m quite interested in Tolkien Lore, but i`ve never heard of some factions like the "Rajaput of Amazar" before. Could you please give some sources?

Ah, but those sources are totally inofficial and made up.

Using some of it as inspiration is okey, but i`d rather use sites like this for information: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Harad
(Still, you should always double check your infos!)

I still think it`s possible to do something like you wanted in the first place- Corsairs of Umbar, Variags, Wainriders, People of Near Harad, People of Far Harad etc are a couple of new factions still.

But you have to hand it to those "inofficial" people they make very nice maps and a lot of very deep infor. I also like there map of the lands south of Harad better then the original

You know, in this case I would encourage you to either try making up your own fantasy world and mod that, or learn about the actual history of the Arabs/North Africans (who Harad and Rhun are more or less stand-ins for) and make a mod about them. Tolkien spent practically no time fleshing out or giving character to these people. There's nothing to them except the LoTR label. It would make this all the more better and unique if you just dropped that and made something new from the ground up.

I would recommend these books from MERP, if you could get them somewhere - very detailed and well thought-out for non-canon work:
