    Default Let's Start !

    Hey XGM players,
i'm a beginner (in the mod i mean) and i really wanna have some tips and strategies for the beginning of a campaign (and how to get a nice empire and strong economy)
i know that a few months ago i already played this mod but i stopped playing it becouse of the lag with the roman units (fixed)
my Macedonian campaign is doing oké but i really want to start a Carthage campaing, some tips are welcome ?

    here are some questions

    - What is the easiest faction to start a campaing with ?
    - is it weird that the AI always attacks again with a full stack ?
(what i mean is when i defeated a full stack of the roman rebbels 2 turns later they have a new stack ready for me )
    - A Little question about landbridges.. i checked it off with the installation but there is still a landbridge as Sicilie and Asia Minor (Turkey)
what did i do wrong ?

    that's it.
    tips, tricks, campaing strategies
    it's all welcome

    ~Thanks
    ~Lucarius

    sorry for my english

Easiest campaign is the Greek City States. You start off by gathering all the troops available in your cities and attack Macedon or just wait until they attack you. Retrain your troops after every big battle and keep recruiting militia phalanxes along with the javelin troops.

As soon as you have control of all of Greece, you should get a great financial boost. After that, the indie greeks will probably attack you aswell (if they dont, you attack them), so take their coastal cities in Asia Minor.

Then you should probably gain 2 new enemies: Thrace and TSE. Do as you like

Thats the romans for you. No matter how many stacks you defeat, they always seem to have more.

Thanks for all the information Grimbold. !
can sombody tell me what is wrong with the landbridges ?
because i just wanna send my armies only to sicilie with a boat
(and i think it is easier in my roman campaign that the roman rebels need to land on italy by boats instead of just walking)

There is always a landbridge between Italy and Sicily (except in the Syracuse campaign). That's there to make sure the First Punic War kicks off in a timely fashion. If you have landbridges on there should also be bridges between Africa-Iberia and Europe-Asia Minor. If you still have the Europe-Asia Minor bridge then that might be an error. I'll check it out.

The landbridges all seem OK in the current version (5.9.11).

Personally I feel it's the Pergamon provincial campaign. Unlike GCS proper (or Rome and Macedon for that matter) they don't start the campaign staring down huge armies. Asia Minor is also pretty rich, and nicely divided. It's very easy to pick off the Seleucid cities to your south, as well as the vicinity of Bithynia in the north. Invade Galatia to your east and build up for Galatian mercs. You probably have to fight Pontus early as they expand along the Euxine. They're not pushovers, but not Roman-level hard. Be careful with their cities as they have Greek culture colonies, meaning the official culture will turn into Western Civilised as soon as you conquer them. Can be a real to manage if they are still 100% Eastern Civilised. When you have troops to spare fill Rhodes up with spies and take it for insane profit. With Asia Minor in your grasp you can invade Greece, or strike south for Syria and Egypt - or wherever strikes your fancy really.

Must be because of the AI bonuses, try the reduced version, or do what I do and cut that in half.

    Happy conquering!
