    Icon5 Why are there so many turncoat armies?

    Is it basically a rule of thumb you can never leave an army out of a castle without a general? I have a ton of money but a shortage of generals so it is rather hard for me to conquer places...I usually carry a backup stack next to my general's stack but they keep turning on me...it is happening on my own land, too, not even on only foreign soil. I'll add I thought I had them beat once when Captain Odo turned on me with a full stack...I reloaded the previous save and I broke up the stack into 20 small armies and nearly half of them still turned, including Odo!

    This happens to me as well. When i have an army without a general outside my settlements for a few turns they frequently rebel. Not sure what causes it, but i suppose the best thing to do is use generals when you attack.

    Hrm, haven't noticed any more than normal, but I need to play more. I'll keep an eye out for turncoat armies, then.

    I played BGR (I assume you guys don't?) so not moving ANY units without a general leading them is 2nd nature to me now =P

    You can move armies without Generals, just divide them into single stacks of units or they will rebel (the bigger the stack the higher chance of rebelling). This is to simulate realism as armies moving about and particularly armies going to war/invade another sovereignty tended to have Generals.

    Perhaps they aren't using BGR because they don't mention it, but the non-BGR files may be using the BGR descr_campaign_db, which is geared up for supply compatibility.

    Can someone with 6.3 check this for me? (I'm modding in a different mod ATM so can't check) If so it may be intentional or it may not.

    It has this on the top, so I assume it's not yours

    Code:
    <!-- gracul mechanics updated for SS6.3 05-06-2010 -->

    yeah, in BGR if you move units without generals it's almost guarenteed to rebel.
    1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

    my situation was even worse..... playing as england, one of my 2 star generals rebelled with a full stack army!!! i didnt have any other units to take out the rebel, so i had to wait a few turns.... next thing you know, the rebel 2 star general became a 10 star general.... is this a bug or somthing??? cause i thought that generals dont rebel....

    having a faction leader with high authority helps, although having not got around to playing 6.3 yet i cant say for sure. If you want to boost the authority shove him in a settlement and wack up the taxes

    Maybe they don't respect your emperor or something. Also, don't leave huge stacks unattended.

    The higher your kings authority the less likely they will rebel. Mine has 9, and no one rebels. I usually only move small stacks though which aren't on their own for more than 2 turns at a time.

    So it is a BGR feature? I wonder if proximity to your capitol affects it, I'm thinking it does because when I was playing as England it happened up in Scotland and then down in N Africa and the Iberian peninsula...speaking of BGR, what is the deal with that mod anyway? Is it just all trait and ancillary descriptions? For instance it says for the War Council trait that if a War Council member becomes Faction Leader designate the position to someone else, or raise taxes, or pay back a loan etc, how do you do any of these things? I see no BGR buttons or anything?
