...i just managed to lose a battle defending, on a hill with equal numbers and a fairly decent quality of arms against a bunch of loudmouthed deep-fried mars bar eating obese cowards that are the grand Scottish army!
I really have to compliment the BAI, i mean i was defending from two sides on very hard but by vanilla standards i could have won this with both hands tied to the back of a randomly jumping goat!
Prince Sigurd the Scarred was commanding a host of proud Norse warriors clad in chainmail and armed with sword and axe, joining him was the king himself boasting a number of elite regiments of auxilary English archers. The only weakness was the lack of cavalry, which would be arguably useless in his position anyway.
The enemy approached from two sides, the north and south, however the southern force was much closer and the prince reasoned he could best them quickly and then face the other opponent as one. Defeating the southern force was indeed rather simple, as they had little time to organise and maneuver.
After quickly dispensing with these forces, the Prince met with his father on a hillside and awaited the Scottish attack from the north, positioning his archers in a favourable position.
The Scots however did not live up to their reckless nature and split their forces to flank on both sides. Their highland warriors rushed in to pin the mighty huscarls in the centre. This allowed their cavalry, while light of weight, to do great damage on the now open flanks.
Soon the mighty warriors of Scandinavia where routed, despite a brave charge from both the Prince and the King along with their host of bodyguards.
The army was shattered and the king forced to sign a peace, lest he lose Inverness.
Huh, i didn't plan for this kind of post at all....oh well
Also made me think of this excellent EU3 AAR, even if you don't like the game it's worth a read.
(btw, i didn't write this or anything, so i'm not just posting this for viewcount or anything)
