    Default Senate Allied With Germania

This is quite early in the game (260 BCE, I think), and Germania attacked me. The strange thing is that ther Senate cancelled their allegiance with me and allied with Germania instead. I am still allied with Scipii and Brutii though, and I still received missions from the Senate.
    What is going on here?

Also, where can I find a guide to the Julii campaign? My popularity with the people is always low for some reason (no higher than 3). And yes, I build sewers, traders, roads, and ports whenever I have the opportunity. Do I need to also build farms to boost my popularity?

from my vague memories of vanilla RTW I beleive that you need to conquer regions to gain plebian support while decreasing your favour in the senate

to make the people happy, you need to create an empire by conquering far off lands. they dont care about things that actually effect them.

the more you conquer the more your popularity will rise with the people, and fall with the senate.. not even killing your faction leader will stop the senate from eventually outlawing you... the thing that made vanilla interesting is that no matter who you are at war with, your greatest enemy, the one you are always keeping an eye on are your allies because you just know they will turn on you...lol while Vanillia is not very historical is does simulate that many roman politicians and generals had to always keep an eye on the enemy to the front.. and their so called "allies" in the back

Thanks for your advice about the plebians, guys. But what about the Senate though?
Is it going to declare war on me (remember, this is only 260 BCE)?

Eh.. as I recall, if you do the senate-missions and conquer lands, first the reputation will rise with the Senate and then lower as your popularity becomes higher at the plebs, so it's not likely they're going to declare war on you soon.

The Senate will only declare war on you when the Civil War starts. And since its only 260, it won't be for a while.

This is an odd one, I've never become un-allied with the senate before, as such I don't think you can garauntee that they won't attack, as before I thought you could garauntee that they'd always be your ally.

Due to the unadventurous nature of the Senate's armies, this probably won't work. But have you thought of attacking a German army adjacent to an SPQR one? Also, I really think you should attack Rome, just to see if you can, and what the other factions do and report back. I need to know! Obviously save first so's not to mess up the campaign.

The Scipii and the Brutii canceled their allegiance with the Senate (and still remain allied with me) when the Senate allied with the Germans, so all is well I guess

Hmmm, maybe I should attack the Senate to see what happens.

I vaguely remember early on in my RTW playing days losing my alliance with the Senate for going to war with Spain. Not sure of the exact issue, but you're not crazy.
