    Default How to get Annúminnas to grow?

    I have decided to play my next campaign as Eriador and (of course) I aim at becoming the reunited Arnor.

    I have seen the requirements, and I think that taking the three settlements isn't too difficult, and neither is getting an alliance with Gondor.

    But how do I get Annúminnas to grow?

    I have read comments in several threads here, and found that I could for example set Aragorn/Gandalf as governor there, and of course set the tax to low. Are there other "helping" factors?

    Should I for instance set my capital there?

    I've got it up to the next level by about turn 40, i stuck aragorn in as governor, low tax rate, farms, brothels and temples first and its up to 4% growth per turn.

    And then you still need 2 more levels

    The AI can reunite Arnor before me

    Send Aragorn to Annúminas immiediatly and let him stay there.
    Set the taxes to low.
    Build the town-hall/council chamber-stuff asap (important for the growth bonus, build before anything else).
    You will get the nesessary population around round 90.

    PS: no browels, Inns in the city to avoid negative traits

    I didn't use Aragorn, I was lucky, and got a 4 Chivalry General to adopt. I placed this general there, and stuck taxes on low. He'll get a trait which will increase his chivalry. However, after that, he'll start becoming soft. Change it the taxes to normal level. Although a 0.5% decrease in the growth rate, he'll still bring in enough. I'm on 3% currently, especially having just splurged everything I could on achieving Annuminas to get it to the level required. To get it fast, I gave up expansionist dreams - I took all the nearby rebels, but then just turtled, only sending Aragorn, Gandalf and the faction heir with a half stack each to fend off the Invasions on Edoras and Dale.

    I kept Aragorn's son in Annúminas since I wanted to keep Aragorn as a general.

    With him as Governor and taxes set to low I was able to meet the population requirements around turn 90.

    And of course don't forget to build buildings which increase population growth.

    I can't tell you much more than the standard growth advice, but I can tell you that you shouldn't move your capital to there.

    The standard growth advice is: run low taxes on all turns, except the turn before you finish a building (i.e. you have it available next turn), turn it to high level then. Avoids many bad traits and you'll get high population quickly.

    I with all efforst and sugestions and best governor at the city achieve the reunited Arnor at turn 160....btw that house of kings is pretty expensive...(over 33000coins )

    Try to have a Governor with 10 Chivalry (Gandalf is a good candidate), giving direct growth bonuses, and the following traits reducing squalor:
    - GoodBuilder (acquired by building lots and lots of stuff, obviously. try to have the general complete as many buildings as possible)
    - the architect retinue (the same)
    - ExpensiveTastes (This one also has downsides)

    I'd go for the brothels, it's another percent growth but of course there's the risk of your governor catching bad traits.

    Here's an unorthodox method if you want to speed things up a little.

    While it would be no fun just to use the add_population cheat to give Annuminas the requisite numbers, you could simulate large scale population movements within the kingdom by using the code to add people to Annuminas and then subtract them from various other towns around the realm (remember, if you put a negative number in the add_population code, it subtracts that many). This kinda makes sense actually if you're playing Eriedor as a land with a new sense of identity. As people buy into the idea of resurrecting Arnor, many might choose to flock to the old capital in order to aid in the process (or profit off of those doing the aiding...). If this still feels too much like cheating, you could simulate royal incentives for families who move to Annuminas by using the add_money code to subtract a certain amount from the treasury every time you simulate a migration.

    Of course, if you go with this route, you'll need to rename the city in order to get rid of the accent mark over the 'u' since you can't type that character into the medieval II console

    Since you can't, the region has another name in the code. You can look it up in \Third_Age\data\text\imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt. Renaming it in-game won't change the coded name, which you need for add_population.

    game limits chivalry bonus to 8 so 8x0.3x0.5=1.2% growth rounded down to 1

    I'ts been said in this topic. Low taxes, some units and a general with a lot of traits that benefit the the growth. Build buildings like town halls etc and all will be fine.

    Also takes 12 turns to build! I was at turn 150 and Aragorn was about 69, while the House of kings was building I kept expecting Aragorn to keel over and die on the last turn so I wouldn't be able to re-unite

    Rounded down to 2, from 2.4%. Annuminas isn't a castle.

    Gandalf (7chiv and no growth traits visible nor hidden) gets 7x0.3x0.5=1.05% growth no magic here.

    Aragorn 5 chiv 5x0.3x0.5=.75 game rounds down to 0.5%

    Elrond has 10 chivalry (not in my game but ok)

    <pip_min value="0" />

    <pip_max value="8" />

    game limits chivalry bonus to 8 so 8x0.3x0.5=1.2%
