Is it possible to make Norway my vassal as England?

I've tried everything and no matter what I propose it is very demanding...my reputation is reliable and they say it is very demanding if I offer them every province in my kingdom and all my gold...it is ridiculous...you think giving them back the lands I took would be enough, I have their one port under siege, I killed their king and they are down to one node...perhaps they won't accept until my army is actually standing in their final node?

I'd agree that the AI has no idea of when it's a good idea to consider vassalization. By the time you've weakened then enough for them to accept it, you can just annex them outright.

I think they need to have NO castles and a significantly smaller force then your own.

Hmm well I took Oslo, which was their last castle and capitol, and killed their king and his army, but maybe they have some other force wandering around? I just want to know if it is possible because when I offered them their original provinces back and then every province I have (about 10) and all my gold it was still very demanding so it seemed like it might be a lost cause...any suggestions?

Sometimes. you also have to have a good reputation, because they are also giving you military rights, and if your unreliable then you would turn on them straight away!

I have no idea how the AI figures it out. I just repeatedly offer it and usually they accept before I tire of offering but I've had a couple times they were vassalized by another Kingdom but refused my offer. So maybe they just hate you for bringing them down.

My reputation is reliable, so I don't get it...and I have a feeling France is going to vassal them if I don't...does the AI really hold a grudge? I've had the same happen in vanilla, where they refuse my vassalge and then someone else gets them...is there anything else I can do to force their hand?

Alright, here is the whole situation, on top of what I already explained...we both have "Reliable" reputations but my actual relationship with them is terrible. I've had all their ports blocked for the past 15 turns, so their finanacial bar has been at 0 on the chart for a very long time...in spite of this, they keep turning out massive armies to fight me. First I took Bergun, then Eikarsland, at which point I posted about the game crashing because the game kept trashing when I tried to fight a massive land battle on the way to Oslo...I was forced to use a cheat to autoresolve the battle to prevent a crash and marched onto Oslo....that is where I am not, trying to experiment with how to get them to bend the knee...

I've killed their king, demolished their military, taken Oslo and then given them back some of the land I took in order to raise my reputation and then offered them all of my gold and the rest of their original land to bend the knee...no good...the thing is even when they are down to their last node they still have "Supreme" military strength, which they must be getting from the one stack they have in Brughes...think that might be the problem?

I've not killed their king or taken Oslo but continued to occupy their land and their ports to show them my strength and offered them all my land and all my money burt my capitol...the vassal offer is still very demanding...

I am not sure what to do, I've read about giving money, but I only have 12K gold so itmight not be enough to sway them and I've read about returning lands, nothing works...I've even given them ALL my land but London and they still think it is "very demanding"....these Vikings are being very stubborn but I'd like to vassal them today if possible...

Any ideas?

It makes no sense...why is their military power "Supreme" when at most they have 2 stacks, I doubt it is 2 full stacks, more likely 1 half full and 1 of 200 men...the fact they won't take my ENTIRE empire and all my gold seems like a bug...let alone all their original lands for peace....even the Pope accepted my offer of an alliance as the Moors in vanilla when I offered my entire kingdom...

LOL I made progress! Now after I sack Oslo and they are down to their last node, for whatever reason, offering my entire kingdom is only "Demanding", not "Very Demanding..."I am sending an army to deal with their last stack and hopefully they enables me to get it done...

I have heard that having their last region surrounded by your regions increases chances of vassalage.It is even better if their last region is not completely landlocked

Hmm, well I have no regions surrounding their final territory, which is Brughes...so maybe that is why they won't listen? Looking at the map they share a border with their ally France and then 2 borders with Denmark, with whom they are neutral...France actually declaired war on me and Scotland was forced to break their alliance with France, so perhaps I should look into taking Antwerp, and you're saying having a common border with increase the chance their submission?

Destroy any armies not holed up in Bruges, then siege it with a full stack. One turn before the town starves to death, call off the siege and send in a diplomat. Offer them your terms. If they refuse, besiege them again until they are at the brink of death. Again, give them your terms, though they scarcely deserve such a mercy.

In my experience, all the AI wants is money. As England, Scotland are my vassals after I offered them 15k for 3 turns. This is a very handy tip because I offered them 45k and even 60k as a single payment, but the AI love a juicy payment over multiple turns; I have no idea why!
What also might have swayed them was the they were on their last province (Stirling, I do believe) which bordered only me and then the sea to the north and I had killed their King and the next two riotous heirs to the throne in a single siege; no doubt demoralizing them utterly.

Alright well I managed to take Antwerp from the French, despite being excommunicated in the process, which was ridiculous but I am not gonna get into it, so I now have a border with Norway's last province, a blockade on their port and I am also allied with Denmark, who is providing me military assistance against them from the eastern border, and yet when I offer them every province I have to become a vassal it is still demanding...so the common border thing seems to have had no effect whatsoever...

I made Scotland my vassal without paying them or giving them anything...for some reason Norway won't bend the knee if I offer them everything...it is ridiculous...I don't see a point in having been excommunicated since taking Antwerp did nothing for me with regard to Norway, although the Pope should die any turn so whatever...now I have Antwerp...and at least Scotland finally stopped being allies with France...I really didn't want to raze Norway and get rid of their faction, but they're leaving me no choice...France and all of western Europe will be on my doorstep soon if the Pope doesn't die and I can't have an army trying to wait Norway into submission...I don't see it happening...the only way I can try the siege/diplomat method is if the Pope dies like now, before they turn on me.....I did manage to think to call a crusade in Baghdad right before being excommunicated, although now I fear I've simply weakened the Turks, who were the only hope of slowing down the Mongols....I'm thinking Antioch or Jerusalem would've been a better choice...

Sounds like an intense game so far...

If you don't want to annihilate Norway, try besieging their settlements until they nearly starve out and then offer them life in exchange for vassalship. That is if you have money and supplies to do such a thing

At least in Empire Total War, something that really helps in getting vassalages is having overwhelming millitary superiority...in their last province.

Reduce them to only one province. Annihilate every last unit and ship outside their city. Blockade their port.

Now besiege them with at least 3-5 full stack armies, and use assassins to demolish their buildings in between your sieges.

Little bastards should relent eventually.
