Icon5 Do sea trade routes change?

I am playing as England and I remeber noticing how Exeter has 5 sea trade routes at the beginning and thinking how it must be the hub of trade for western England like York for the NE...however, I went to war with France and then my trade routes all went away, other than one going NW to Dublin...now I once again have trade established with France and the Dublin trade route is gone and there is only one sea-trade route to Rennes...I remember importing wine and now I am not getting any wine from France....are sea routes meant to change and if so is there a way to increase it back to 5? It was one of my best cities until it lost 4/5 of its trade.

If you are at war with France your trade routes would be done, why would you trade with the enemy? Any country you go to war with in this game you lose trade rights with. Does that answer your question?

I understand that I will lose trade when I am at war but why would the trade route go away forever? Like I said we are no longer at war and I am now once again trading with France but the only sea trade going to and from Exeter is to Rennes, France where once there were 5 routes, Dublin, N Spain, Rennes, etc...now only Rennes remains and I am not at war with Dublin (myself) or Spain, so those should still be there...

So I am guessing it is intentional? Perhaps the place I was trading with can now get the same material from someone else so the trade route is no longer nessecary? Except I am still not getting any wine from Rennes...or anywhere else...so that isn't really the answer...it is strange, because one turn Exeter has 5 sea trade routes to Rennes, London, a port in Castille, Marseille, Cannes and then it has just one to London and then even the London one goes away when I opened trade with France to be replaced by one route to Rennes....

Could that cities (the one you should be trading with) port be blocked by land troops or enemy boats? If not I am not sure what the issue will be, sim a rounds and see if it comes back.... I doubt it's a bug as I haven't seen any bugs relating to trade routs in these forums.

Hmm well I have had control of Dublin and Exeter the whole time and for some reason they randomly stopped trading, along with a route to Bordeux and 2 in northern Spain that are also missing, and I have had a trade contract with Aragorn and Castille the entire time...

I don't know what that issue could be. Sadly... maybe someone else can help. May it is a bug who knows.

This is something I've questioned before while playing previous versions of the game, but have never really bothered to analyze and mostly ignored it. So I am not much help unfortunately

I too would like to know if anyone has any idea of what factors play into how trade routes work...

Maybe if you have a trade route with someone who is allies with that nation but enemies to you, you can't trade with them....idk, just theorizing that's all.
    Example:
    I'm England trading with France.
France is trading and allies with HRE
I am at war with HRE therefore I can't trade with France... IDK! Or maybe my trade is limited because of that somehow?

That would make sense but I've had control of Dublin-Exeter the whole time so the war explanation is sort of irrelevant and blocking ports, too, since both have been free the entire time.
