    Default Unpacking?

I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to modding full stop.

If I want to change a few names in the descr_names file so that I've got a few more names for certain factions/I can get rid of some, do I need to unpack my files? What is unpacking?

Also, I had the DLV mod, and I changed some names of Spain fine, and added a few new ones in and it was all working, then went into the descr_strat file, tried changing the names of some of my Spanish family members, but once I'd done it, I couldn't start a new game anymore, it would just send me back to the menu. Any ideas as to why?

    Thanks

The Unpack will create several file in your medieval2\data that are compressed, you should unpack for modding.
The names in desc_strat must be in the descr_names.txt under the selected faction, for example for change a name to a milan character you must change the name with a name that is under the "faction milan" in descr_names.
You can also create mew names adding it in the descr_names and in text\names
Modder of "Bellum Crucis" and "De Bello Mundi"

    Unpacking won't help at all.

DLV comes with a name verfier in the main folder, you can use that as a guide to finding out what you've done wrong, or not done yet.

It wants all relevant files in the same folder with it, so it sends you off to find them
