Default Will the progression of the Russian state poltiically and militarily be represented?

What I am asking here is if the gradual change from Nordic-Slavic units to far more Eastern inspired units (of course bought on by the Mongol occupation) will be represented in this mod. For the AI, I'd imagine you could just have the Mongols almost always conquer at least the Kievians, and then in 1380 launch an event which sparked a huge rebellion in Mongol controlled Rus. This is not accurate, of course, but the engine has some (a of) limitations. Whenever a region was captured, it would be owned by the "Grand Principality of Muscowy." If things went right, this rebellion would take back most of the Rus's lands, but leave some in control of the Mongols (to represent the outlying Khanates that formed) In the 1500s, the name would change to "The Tsardom of Rus."

I'm just wondering if this progression will be represented in-game. I know most mod do not do this. In Stainless Steel, for example, the early-game Kievian Rus are unique and have some unique units, but then the late-game ones are fairly similar; they don't really reflect the new fighting style and gear adopted by the Russian armies after the Mongol occupation.

Here's a good source if you need one:

    EDIT: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I just realized your end-date is before the 1500s. Well before. When is your end-date, actually?

By the time of our 1080 start date, the Rus armies were already a mix of eastern and western fighting styles and equipment. By the close of the 10th Century the Rus Druzhina could already fight as steppe style cavalry. By our start date the urban militias had for the most part already replaced the old Slavic tribal levies and though Norse mercenaries were still employed, their supply dried up by the early 12th Century. Light cavalry provided by steppe people settled in Rus lands were a regular component in their armies. The Slavic speaking Rus had assimilated at least as many steppe people as they had Scandinavians. Consider the fact the title Knyaz was only widely adopted in the 12th Century, prior to that the Turkic title Khagan was used.

So I’m not saying the Mongol Invasion didn’t bring on changes. It did and we can easily attach those to the event, but thinking of Rus armies as being Nordic-Slavic in a traditional sense is not really accurate for the late 11th century and certainly is not for the 12th.

Thanks for the link BTW, I'll check it out.

Our end date is 1453 for now.

True, there was plenty of Eastern Influence, but there was also some Western influence, as evidenced by the armor and arms of the picture of that soldier in the link (and a couple of other pictures scattered throughout there.) Then there's the uniquely Russian parts of his equipment of course.

I was just curious, anyways. It was a real shame to not see any transition from the pre-Mongol units to the post-Mongol units in Stainless Steel, so I'm glad that they will be represented here.

If you have any research you'd like to provide, especially with authentic medieval Russian named units and buildings for the tech tree, that would be really useful. In which case send us a PM
