    Icon2 Next in Line: #V2.0b Released & Updated! - Compatible with TA:TW 2.1

Always been peeved when a pathetic, hated family member is the next in line to inherit the throne of your Kingdom?

Well no more! - Next in Line v2.0 allows you to choose who you want to rule your Kingdom, when your current ruler... pops his clogs, so to speak.

This is done by a certain retinue which each faction has, from the Plantir of Orthanc, all the way to the Arkenstone - Heart of the Mountain. Each faction will begin with this, and when a person with it dies, it will be given to your faction leader again after one turn when he is garrisoned in a settlement. Each retinue is extremely beneficial to the one holding it, providing tremendous boosts to morale, command and many other different factors... which have again been tendered to be more faction-specific (for example, the dwarves gain mining bonuses etc), so choose wisely who holds it.

This does not change the default heir when the campaign first begins, to do this you must edit the descr_strat file. Also, I've not been able to test this since I'm operating on a MAC, so if people who download could post wether it does work or not, that'd be great. Thanks.

    Instructions: Instructions:

As said before, each faction will start off with the retinue. This is usually your faction heir, however I have made some changes to who begins with it, so look through all your family members. For example, Aragorn and Saruman each start off with the Plantirs for their factions, even though they are not the heirs.

To give the retinue away, simply open the original owner, and then click and drag the retinue to the character portrait of your choice. Both generals must be in the same army for this to work.

Finally, if your general dies in battle, your faction leader will re-gain the retinue, so that he can re-present it to the next person that you want as your faction heir.

Again, you can not choose the first heir that is shown in a new campaign, because this is determined in the descr_strat file - you are able to choose every faction heir after this though.

    Installation: Installation:

    Download the attached file,

    Unrar/zip this to C://Program Files/SEGA/Medieval II Total War/mods/

location may vary depending on your OS, installation path.

    Compatibility: Compatibility:

    - Should be fully compatible with the One Ring sub-mod.

    - AUM 2.0

    - Arnorian Re-Emergence

    - Any mods that do not edit the descr_strat, or ancillary files. (though easily merged, P.M. Me if you want to make a version compatible with a sub-mod of your choice)

    Change-logs: Version 2.0b Change-log:

    - Fixed the installation so that the sub-mod is installed into the correct folder, and will now work.

    - Edited descriptions and corrected gramatical errors for the ancillaries.

    - Made compatible with TA:TW 2.1.

    - Added a script, so that if a family member who is carrying the orb dies - the faction leader will gain the orb a turn later by simply being in a settlement, and then you can appoint your new faction heir. (all factions)

    - Other small fixes.

    - HOTFIX 2.0b - Fixed a coding error which made the retinue for Eriador not appear. This was due to the 'ú' in Annúminas not being recognised by MAC text editors. - Fixed Orcs of Gundabar not receiving retinue at the start of the campaign. - Fixed Gondor negative loyalty bonus. Many thanks to Disastras for his continuous help in identifying and working with me to fix the bugs.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Version 1.0a Change-log:

    - Changed ancillary images of all factions, and effects to make them more faction specific.

    - Increased bonuses of all retinues.

    Future Changes/Updates: Future Changes/Updates:

    - Will implement many of the ancillaries into the Fellowship Campaign.

    - Will update the ancillaries, since some look pretty lame at the moment.

If any 2D graphical artists would like to help in re-creating ancillary images, that would be appreciated.

    - Will continue to differentiate and provide unique triggers to each one to continue to make each as faction specific as possible.

I'm not sure, but I'd probably be able to make it compatible if I had permission from the creator. (:

Could you post your system log file in the M2:TW folder /logs? I've just downloaded the other one and it seems fully compatible, it could simply be a problem with that mod and not this one.

HerzoG, I had the exact same problem. Just reinstall the Anorian reemerge and the game should work again....

That's not a problem involving this mod, it causes no errors - it could be a problem with the .bat file with the mod you have downloaded, so make sure that the descr_sm_factions file is definitely there after using the .bat.

I do not think the problem is on my mod..

711 downloads and there are no problem with the launcher..However maybe I will make another version of this mod (because I also know how to do this ) that would be compatible with mine sub-mod

Of course I will link you for the idea

Or you could download this and see if you encounter the same problem, as it may just be his installation? I've checked and no files conflict between them, so essentially there should be no reason why they are not compatible with one another.
