RTW laggy on modern computer :(

RTW is laggy on my new computer (W7, 4 cores, HD 5770) is there anything to do about it? In larger battles i have a fps about 14-18 and a devastating mouse lagg. If I increase the game speed to max it doesnt affect the framerate at all, which is not strange because a HD5770 should have the power to play this game 6 times around. Its some compability issues

Tried XP SP3 compatibilty mode?
Tried turning off all the background programs?
Have you installed dx9.0c from Microsoft's website?
Same with .Net 4?

I have the same problem. Low fps regardless of detail or resolution or Anti Aliasing and stuff.
I have a Radeon 4870 Graphics Card, 2,83 GHz Quad Core, 4GB RAM, Win XP

I searched quite a bit and never found a conclusive answer to my lag problems.

I can't give a 'fix' but when my battles start to lag I exit the game, do a general cleanup and defrag.
90% of the time the lag is fixed. If it's still laggy I'll leave the game and reload until it's smooth. Sometimes it may take a few goes but gets there in the end.

Hope this help work around your lag issues.
