ATTILA RELOADED'S TRUE LATE ROMAN ARMY MOD v 3.0

An independant mod for RTW:BI made by Attila Reloaded

    - Link -

    http://rapidshare.de/files/7946218/A...V_3.0.rar.html

Important note - I made a small mistake - called directory with unit cards "unit" instead of "units", so to make unit cards work, just move all files from "unit" to "units".

    - TWC link -

    http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/index.php?mod=759

    - Copyrights -

Everything besides the things credited were created by Attila Reloaded.
If you want to release something based on anything from this mod, you must ask a permission from me ( be sure I will give it, it's just a formality ).
If you want to add them ito your mod, don't forget to credit Attila Reloaded.

    - Info -

V 3.0 includes 95 new units for WRE, ERE, R-B and Sassanids, new recruiting system, new feature allowing WRE to recruit R-B units in Britania instead of their usual units ( looks like playing two different factions ), AOR units for romans and weights 48 mb total.

To install on a clean BI version, don't know if it works with old TLRA versions

    - Credits goes to -

PROMETHEUS for parts of his legionarii model I used.
IR MOD'S RESEARCH TEAM for making unit list and providng myself with good info.
WARSPITE for his face textures I used.
LATE ROMANS for creating armour, weapons, clothes and shields desighn of this mod's units.

Post if you find any bugs. They will be solved in V 4.0

    Unit list -

    WESTERN ROMAN EMPIRE

While playing as western romans, you can choose between roman and barbarian unit branches. Western Roman emperors allowed barbarian tribes to settle on roman lands on conditions of sending their warriors to fight for Rome. Barbarian armyes fighting under roman command are called foederati. With time, they took the major number in roman army. Roman unit branch is consisted of usual late roman troops, providing an expensive and disciplined army. The Foederati branch provides typical barbarian units forming a cheap mass of good individual soldiers. You can choose what branch do you need more to acheave victory.

    INFANTRY

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Legio Palatinae
    - Auxillia Palatinae Gravis ( Lat. Heavy Auxillia Palatinae )
    - Auxillia Palatinae ( usual light vesion )
    - Prima cohortis legionarii ( first cohort )
    - Legionarii
    - Plumbatarii
    - Lanciarii ( spearman )
    - Limitainei
    - Cohortis Vegilum

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati warband
    - Foederati swordsman
    - Foederati spearman

    CAVALRY

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Scholae Palatinae ( Equites Scutarii )
    - Clibanarii ( Grouped in smaller units that ERE ones, but a bit better armoured. )
    - Cataphractarii ( semi-sarmatian cavalry lancers )
    - Equites Promoti ( usual medium cavalry )
    - Equites Sagitarii ( light version with no armour )

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati cavalry
    - Foederati nobles

    LIGHT TROOPS

    ROMAN BRANCH

    - Sagitarii
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )

    BARBARIAN BRANCH

    - Foederati bows

    EASTERN ROMAN EMPIRE

Eastern Empire is in constant war with Sassanids and nomadic tribes. Those enemyes have brilliant cavalry and deadly armoured mounted warriors. That's why, as Eastern Emperor, you must pay more attention to cavalry, both light and heavy, to beat those opponents. Infantry play minor role in ERE army, but it doesn't mean that it is worse than WRE's legions. Wealth of Imperia Orientialis allowed to give their legions better equipment and support the best cavalry of the roman world.

    INFANTRY

    - Legio Palatinae
    - Auxillia Palatinae Gravis ( Lat. Heavy Auxillia Palatinae )
    - Auxillia Palatinae ( usual light vesion )
    - Prima cohortis legionarii ( first cohort )
    - Legionarii
    - Plumbatarii
    - Lanciarii ( spearman )
    - Limitainei
    - Foederati warband
    - Cohortis Vegilum

    CAVALRY

    - Scholae Clibanarii Palatinae ( Elite of Elite )
    - Scholae Palatinae ( equites scutarii )
    - Cataphractarii ( semi-sarmatian cavalry lancers )
    - Clibanarii
    - Equites Sagitarii Gravis ( heavy horse archers )
    - Equites Promoti ( usual medium cavalry )
    - Equites Sagitarii ( light version with no armour )

    LIGHT TROOPS

    - Sagitarii
    - Sagitarii Gravis ( heavy archers )
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )

    ROMANO - BRITONS

Romano -britons are a mix of barbarian and roman cultures. Both roman and barbarian warriors serve romano-british generals. Pictish tribes form the north and saxons from the sea are threating britania, so, as a Romano-British King, you must use all the resources you have to stop the invasion.

    INFANTRY

    - Legionarii ( a bit better than WRE and ERE legionarii as they are the best R-B infantry )
    - Pedites Romanii ( Roman Infantry )
    - Foederati Heavy Swordsman
    - Milites Sationarius ( Garrison Troops )
    - Foederati Warband

    - Foederati cavalry

    LIGHT TROOPS

    - Sagitarii
    - Balistarii ( crossbowman )
    - Fleet Sailors ( javelinman )

Roman AOR units included in v 3.0

    - Equites Mauri ( north africa )
    - Equites Parthii ( sassanian territories )
    - Equites Dalmatii ( Illyria and Thrace )
    - Auxillia Illiricani ( Illyria and Thrace )
    - Gothic Foederati ( balcans )
    - Gothic Foot Nobles Foederati ( balcans )

    SASSANIDS

Sassnids are the most powerfull ruling dynasty of Persia. Constant war with Eastern Roman Empire and nomads made their war machine siutable for any conditions. The Iron horseman, horse archers, heavy infantry and light troops form sassnian army. Big population allows to rise huge infantry armies and traditioual eastern wealth allows sassnian noblility to wear the best armour. This army is a strong opponent to face in the field.

    INFANTRY

    - Levy Spearman
    - Paighans ( light infantry )
    - Sassanid infantry
    - Sughdain infantry

    CAVALRY

    - Sardar ( female horse archers )

    Default Bugs?

    Hi,

I noticed that the Sassanids do not have unit cards associated with the units - is anyone else seeing this?

Also, the WRE Rebels and ERE seem to be having the same issue.

Did you redo the Sassanid textures? The Sassanids are cool but I can't play them because every time I see the face they put on the camel riders, I want to cry.

I remade sassanids textures. So, no eye-burning colors.

    @ Odovacar

In total commander? You must use WIN ZIP or WIN RAR.

My problem is that when I unpack the mod in total commander, it doesn't make the specific directories, just put everything together in one directory. It is very hard to put all files manually into the intended directory in case of info pics...Should I use another program to unpack your mod?
Or it is supposed to be so?

Banners are beautiful ATILLA but to me it's too much for RTW engine... It would be better if the banner moved with the wind, but as the engine now it's impossible i suppose...BTW i like them Keep your time now

    Great skins, thanks so much!
Also another thing, I'm not sure if its a bug. Its seems that you can recruit Legio Palatinae everywhere instead of Comitantes. In Auxilia Barracks.
Edit: And could you please release fixes for your main package rather than making us download the whole thing, because if you find another bug, we'll have to download it 3rd time ?

You must be mentioning Auxillia Palatinae, not Legio Palatinae. LP is avaiable only in Palatinae barracks, and AP is avaiblae everywhere from auxillia barracks to palatina barrcaks.

I had to upload it for the first time because there was a major bug - incorrect directories for unit cards and two minor bugs. If there will be found any more bugs, I will of course make a patch like I made before.

    Excellent work Atilla!

I really like the Vigiles (the fur caps are a nice touch), and the Illyrian units!

A couple suggestions (if I am offending you , was not my intention)

Equites Dalmatii should be Equites Dalmatae

You should consider renaming the Equites Parthii to Equites Indiginae, they are all over the Notitia, for the Eastern Empire.

I believe the Equites Parthii Sagittarii can be found all over the Empire, and are covered by Equites Sagittarii.

I haven't had a change to fight as the Sassanids yet, but I am sure I will not be dissapointed.

Which factions are next? I can't bring myself to play as any of the Barbarians because the units are so ridiculous. Chosen this and that....Paladins??? I expect Charlemagne to pop up somewhere.

Some changes I have made in my copy:

Paladin Bodyguards renamed to Scara Bodyguards
    Paladins renamed to Scola Cavalry
(Saxon) Warlord renamed to Saxon Gesith
Saxon Household Troops renamed Saxon Thegns

I made many more, but can't think right now.
