S.S 6.3 fatal error at start with steam

Downloaded S.S 6.3 from torrent, ran setup installed first early era campaign with lusted AI, permanent arrows and watchtowers and started the game and got ''Medieval II suffered a fatal error and will now exit.'' so I downloaded the files from known bugs: in ''bug reports for 6.3'' thread and tried again and got the same thing, my next step was trying the late era campaign with same setup as early and with known bugs files and the same thing happened to it.

SS6.3 is installed in /mods with the other kingdoms files and third age, I tried to change the name to british_isles and it didn't work either.

Third Age mod works alright though!

Did you follow the instructions in the Steam sticky thread (at the top of the main SS forum) to get 6.3 working with steam?

Just found it and was trying to find that bat file but I can't see it anywhere, I did search but my computer found nothing in the SS6.3 folder.
And I saw a comment that someone skipped the bat file part and it worked for him so I was going to try that.

Well it didn't bypass the launcher and got the same fatal error so those instructions didn't help me.

Hey, Steam user here on Windows 7.

-Run installer (it should find the path for you, it did for me, if not, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods", and if you have a UAC message, naturally let the program do it's thing)

-Configure which campaign you want (it will give you options, should be late or early)

-When everything's finished, try to run the game (it should do it automatically when installation is finished)

-You're very likely receive an error in which M2 crashes (I had to reinstall 3-4 times because I chose the wrong options when I installed <_<, it crashed the first time I tried *every* time)

-But, if you run M2 from your steam's game list normally, when you click play, it should drop down M2 and each expansion, including Stainless Steel.

-Click Stainless Steel, and it might crash once more, but if you try -yet again- it should work. It did for me!

-Do not try to use the shortcut or the launcher provided in the mod folder, neither work well with steam.

Oh god, I closed that message without choosing any option because I thought it was already the game launcher. I will re-install it again.

I fixed this myself but it does say when u open the launcher for the first time ok so. For anyone still having problems with steam & this mod try this. When u install. Simply go to steam / games / add-no steam games / on the drop down list click Stainless Steel Launcher. Then Boot the game from that And it will skip the Pop up Menu and take you right into the game Hope This Helps
