Windows 7 and RTW

Sorry to make another windows 7 thread but I haven't found an answer looking through the other threads.

I just installed Rome onto my laptop which runs windows 7. The installation went fine but when I try and play the game it opens up the first screen (the bit where you can choose to play, unistall, links, extras etc.) but when I click "Play: Rome Total War" nothing happens, the screen just disappears.

Do I need to patch the game (my CD is not gold so there are no patches)? Or is there something else I have to do in windows 7?

Any help is greatly appreciated because it's been years since I've played this game but I remember it being so good!

You only have 64mb dedicated in BIOS.
CA spces for onboard graphics chips 128mb minimum dedicated in BIOS.
HP locks the BIOS so you cannot change the value.
Your only chance is update your Intel graphics drivers if possible.

Hi,

got a win7 pro x64 problem. I installed the game from the CDs, patched it to 1.3, 1.5, then installed RTR 1.9.

I launch the game fine, get to new campaign, choose my faction, but when I click on start, I get a CTD. I tried a historical battle, same thing.

What could be wrong here?

One thing I don't see is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en.
The game needs it and dx11 that comes with Win 7 does not have it.
Disable the UAC before you do. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/1...-in-windows-7/.

I just had to delete that map.rwn or something from data/world/maps/base and it works now
