Default Do the Elves need more units?

Looking around on the factions on skirmish and im shocked with how many units the elves get. I think both elven factions could do with some more units added. Heres all the units the factions get (Not including Seige or AOR) Silvan elves really need some love right now. And so do some of the other factions. Now im not saying each faction gets 17 or so units. But some of them really need some new unit types.

    Eriador - 17
    Rohan - 17
    Gondor - 16

    Arnor - 14
    Rhun - 13
    Isengard - 12
    Dwarfs - 12
    Goblins - 11
    High Elves - 10
    Silvan Elves - 9

I don't really see any units that elves would require.High Elves and Silvan Elves have great units. I think that's the unique thing about Elves. You have few units to choose, but they are really good.

Agreeing with Beradrin here, I play High Elves most of the time and I don't have any problems with the roster.

The Eldar units are all so solid, and now with the addition of Eregion Smiths, they don't really need anything else. Pikes/Halberds don't seem too fitting to the Elven factions, but then I don't know too much about the lore. Can't speak much for Silvan elves, but they seem pretty good too, considering they have a horse archer unit with a missile attack of 10(!).

If any faction needs more units, it should be the OotMM in my opinion. I don't see any reason to play them anymore since Gundabad was added and it makes me sad because they were my most played evil faction pre 2.0

    Balrog, Goblins in plate armour..

I also don`t think that the Elves need more units. Sure, new units could be added (High elven axemen, damn it! The axe was one of the first weapons of the elves..), but that`s not really important.

    High Elven Axemen?

No, you maybe mean Sindarin Axemen...

Therefore Thingol took thought for arms, which before his people had not
needed, and these at first the Naugrim smithied for him; for they were greatly
skilled in such work, though none among them surpassed the craftsmen of
Nogrod, of whom Telchar the smith was greatest in renown. A warlike race of old
were all the Naugrim, and they would fight fiercely against whomsoever
aggrieved them: servants of Melkor, or Eldar, or Avari, or wild beasts, or not
seldom their own kin, Dwarves of other mansions and lordships. Their smithcraft
indeed the Sindar soon learned of them; yet in the tempering of steel alone of all
crafts the Dwarves were never outmatched even by the Noldor, and in the making
of mail of linked rings, which was first contrived by the smiths of Belegost, their
    work had no rival.

At this time therefore the Sindar were well-armed, and they drove off an
creatures of evil, and had peace again; but Thingol’s armouries were stored with
    axes and with spears and swords, and tall helms, and long coats of bright mail;
for the hauberks of the Dwarves were so fashioned that they rusted not but shone
ever as if they were new-burnished. And that proved well for Thingol in the time
    that was to come.

This was in the First Age but I think they may have kept the tradition...
Glorfindel, the Lord of the House of the Golden Flower

...Glorfindel was tall and straight, his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy, his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music, on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength...

... the Elven-wise, lords of the Eldar from beyond the furthest seas. They do not fear the Ringwraiths, for those who have dwelt in the Blessed Realm live at once in both worlds, and against both the Seen and the Unseen they have great power...

Check out FROME (Forgotten realms of middle earth) It adds some pretty awesome units to the elf factions and splits the elves of mirkwood and those of lorien. Its in the sub-mods section and will soon be 2.1 compatible. I honestly cant go back to playing TATW as the elves without it.

I think the elves are quality over quantity but maybe 1 new unit wouldn't do any harm

Well i am not very good with Lotr lore but spaming Eldar is not quite lore friendly, the High Elves could have some more medium-heavy units that could be the backbone on their armies and the Eldar should be very hard to recruit.

It would also be pretty cool to see Elrond as a unique hero in next version

Well, i think the normal elven generals look just like elrond anyway.

In the campaign game, Silvan Elves get 1 less than OOTMM but their troop quality is leagues ahead of them. If anyone needs love its the OOTMM.

Whenever people brag about heroic victories, 9/10 its playing as elves. That doesn't tell me they need more units... While we are at it, Mordor only get 3 more units and again their overall unit quality is alot lower.

In terms of quality, even the starting Elven units remain useful all the way to the end, and all their units are either the best, or close to the best in their class, in the game. This means that the entire roster remains relevant throughout whereas with other factions, you stop training most of the low-level troops as soon as you have access to better ones.

Essentially, the only problem with Elves is that you may get slightly bored with the roster a few hundred turns in. Adding units would be nice for variety's sake but the current roster will get the job done every time, and with panache

By the way, where and how do you recruit Eregion Smiths ? I play as the HE and haven't seen them yet.
