    Default Civil War

    Hi folks,

have started the civil war as the Julii and have taken rome. Scipii are leaving me alone and are mincing around in N. Africa. The trouble is the Brutii who in Greece seem to have an inexhaustable amount of full stacks all with Legionaries and Onagers and good heavy cavalry. I have good armies but need a better way of taking them out on the battle map.

    Any help would be great!

I noticed that despite having more people, land and money than Bruttii their army was a lot stronger on the chart and they had stacks just standing around everywhere...that is why I waited until I was on the verge of winning the game before taking Rome...that isn't really helpful advice if it is already too late to wait, though.

    add_money 4000000000

    Add to recruitment queue: Diplomats

The most annoying thing late game is the stack spamming AI and their ceaseless amounts of full stack legionary troop types.

Until you download a mod that does away with that little bump in the road to total world domination.

Conquering the italian peninsula is usually easy as the don't guard it.
When this is ready, you can block their armies coming from Greece near modern day Venice. (I think it is Patavium but not sure) There is a place where you can park an army and they can't go past you because of the Alps/Adriatic sea. You might need frequent retraining, so it is better to use 2 armies. When they still have their crazy number of troops, you might be attacked 4-5 times per turn.

Also, you could create a second army group (1-2 stack), make a surprise landing near Corinth/Sparta/Athens to strip them off their valuable cities.

before I star civil wars, I send my armies near cities that I was unable to buy from them, and its a short story afterwards

    Can't win? Against the AI?

Seriously, have you _ever_ been defeated in this game?
I mean defeated like losing all your settlements, not like Egypt kills Selucids faster then you as Spain kill Carthage.

In my current game, it is quite dull, yes. Near modern day Venice I have an army, while my other is retreaning at the city. (change every turn) I destroy 3-4 Brutii stacks per turn, often 2-3 in 1 battle.
Quite boring, yes, but they have no chance really!

Have you ever played the campaign on vh? The AI acts a lot differently, while still not that smart they can definetly kill a moderate to inexperiaenced player.
