Guys, now when you play a bit can you give some impressions about SS 6.3?
I installed it and started up a late era campaign. I liked the RR/RC mod that I installed with 6.2.4, but I find it bit overwhelming in 6.3 as I don't fully understand how the army supply system and not to mention the other traitis generals get now. "One hundred" "Two thousand" traits, lol wut?
It's a litte bit confusing and gave up after a couple of turns. I'll give it a go today, but need read a bit about at the new RR/RC features or maybe disable it the mod. Any chance to install the 6.2.4 compatible RR/RC with 6.3? :o
Impressive, I still have to get used to the supply system but I'm having a lot of fun with the middle eastern factions.
About that, I found the Khwarezmian and Turk heavy infantry a lot weaker then the heavy infantry of the eastern factions. The difference wasn't so wide in 6.2 or this is just my impression?
The UI is much better - especially the new loading screens. God, I love that dark stone (or perhaps black leather). Better than that barf-bag brown we had before. New faction symbols are nice, too, and I like going back to the vanilla shield look. Everything, aesthetically, seems crisp and clean. Gameplay isn't much different, but I like the option to choose various AIs. I'm a bit mixed on the new units. While it's great to have more stuff, I thought the rosters before were adequate, and there was a similar level of quality (high) in unit cards/unit info pictures. With 6.3, some of them are now sub-par (in my opinion), but I can overlook that because the units perform well.
Battles... well, I'll just say that I immediately removed the new grass (it just looks pixelated and out-of-place when zoomed out, but pretty good zoomed in. Mostly, though, I never had a problem with the vanilla grass). I also noticed some funky-sounding (in a bad way) battle horns, so I'll investigate that eventually. Banners are gone, but they're easy enough to get back, sprites are disabled so battles are slower (read the FAQ to see how to get them back), and the AI is definitely better. Overall, not much different than 6.2 except for the AI and audio effects (new music too, which fits, but I prefer my custom mix I had for 6.2. Easy enough to change).
I'm considering going back and making a 6.2/6.3 mix, with 6.2 gameplay but 6.3 AI, UI, and a few other features. I know it's probably a bad idea, and I don't think I'll follow through. So, if I had to pick between the two, I'd say 6.3 definitely.

I'm happy you like the UI, shields, and loading screens. What unit cards / unit info pics are not up to par? I did not do all of them, but I did do most. Let me know which and I will do new ones and add them to a update if gracul puts one together or my submod. You can let me know on the Stainless Steel forum if you want.
thanks

Well, I don't have a comprehensive list (unless you'd like me to make one), but it just seems to be the new units for each faction. Two examples are Miles and Fyrd Spearmen for England (Early Era Campaign). The unit cards are okay, but the unit info picture is larger than other units' and looks pixellated and cheap. Having everything relatively uniform helps with the quality factor, in my opinion. Again, it's only aesthetic. The units themselves are fine.
Praetorian121: Delete the new_vegetation folder in SS6.3/data, that did it for me.
Hey, I think this is the right topic, so I'll post a few questions here:
Is crown mod implemented in SS 6.3? Because after about 12 turns I can't get my english king crowned...though I remember he got crowned right after the first turn when I was playing Point Blank's latest RR&RC compilation version.
Was school building removed? Cuz I couldn't see it neither in the buildings' roster nor in the already built buildings list (screen attached).
I saw somewhere that crusades targets' were revamped... But still the first crusade target in my campaign was...Cairo. I always got Cairo as the first crusade target as long as I remember myself playing SS 6.1+
I also saw in patch notes that merchants were buffed, but that doesn't look real, because two of my merchants had 0 points after 12 turns and got pwned, and the other one whom I had from campaign start now only has 3 points, while other AI merchants have about 5-6...
P.S. The scots are still bombing Bruges.
played it last night, it seems alot smoother expecially browsing around the campaign map (playin early era with RR/RC and savage AI) because i used to have some lag in 6.2. so i was happy about that.
Also faction badges have been polished and improved which is cool to see.
Theres is lots more things that have improved too, its just a far more polished and smoother stainless steal which is great.
Massively recommend getting 6.3 over all the others (6.1, 6.2 etc)
Well done and thanks to everyone who made this!
In 6.3 you have a different version of the crown mod.
First, you need your nation to be big enough, second you need a set of right settlement - historically wise. Then you get crowned.
Crowns are also tied to each other - like aragon&castile&portugal are all fighting for one crown, so someone might beat you to it.
Schools are still in, available from small town level.
Crusades target's were revamped, but Cairo was a target of a crusade historically, so why wouldn't it be a crusade target here ;d?
PS. they like doing that ;d
If your fighting for the crown of brittanica, and scotland beats you too it, dont look now but you lost every settlement in england
*whoops. forgot to leave my impression here.
epic. ss is the new vanilla for me, permanently! with interchangable mini mods included, i love it!
Have you guys experienced fps drop from 6.2 to 6.3? From my point of view in one of the battles I did yesterday, there was a noticable fps drop when sieging a castle. May it be due to excessive alt+tabbing in campaign mode that may have caused it or it may be some fine tuning I need to do in video options?
Yes minor city, sorry for the miss-information.
Okay, so that' working as intended. However, I've encountered another strange issueIt's Nottingham - I put my family member(or even 3 at a time), but the castle still works in auto-regime, like there's no governor there! Quitting and starting the game again didn't help... I've also tried to change several governors there, but it didn't help either
