Icon13 SLOW end of turns 6.3

First of all 6.3 is AMAZING and I really appreciate all of the work which has been put into it, its great! But I have a bone to pick. It seems I spend more of my time waiting for it to reach my turn than actually playing the game, the end turns are even slower than what they were in 6.1 . Does anyone know if its possible to speed it up somehow?

.....Perhaps this might be of help.....

    8. Slow end turn times: Please make sure you run scan disk & defrag regularly and here's a thread that might help.

The more options you select in the setup -> the more you add to the campaign script the longer your wait time will be.
The only way to speed up the turn time is to remove features from the campaign script.

    Thanks for the reference
And some other things you could do is turn down your graphics or shut down processes running in the backround. Other ideas are cleaning out the dust in your desktop, or removing more scripts (but that would alter gameplay). GL!

You could try overclocking your CPU a bit, if it's a desktop and the motherboard doesn't have the clock-settings locked (Dell motherboards, for example, have them locked)
There's plenty of guides on overclocking around the web.
Overclocking by 10-20% can improve your turn-times a lot, especially if it's the CPU that is the bottleneck, not the GPU or RAM.

I'm hoping my Pentium IV 3.0, 1,5 GB of DDR RAM and GeForce 9400GT are up to the task.... I remember very well when I had only 1GB of RAM Memory and a GeForce 5200... It was almost unplayable when the game reached around turn 50 or so... Had to wait around 1/2 minutes for the turn to end.

The scripts are very complex, that comes at a price unfortunately. You should be able to play it at acceptable speed with a new system in 3-4 years

On my gaming rig, a PC with 8 GB RAM, a 3.2 GHz AMD Phenom II 965, overclocked to about 3.6 GHz, and a GeForce GTX 250, there's virtually no turn-lag, each faction's turn takes about 2-3 seconds each, often "skipping" a few factions, totaling about 30 seconds (not including visible AI troop movements) from I hit end turn till it's my turn again
Not sure if it'll change much with 6.3, haven't had the chance to play yet.

Question: Is it still terribly slow for you'all even with follow AI turned off? In SS6.2 even though I hated to do it I bit the bullet and turned
    it off to save time.

It majorly sucked though cuz to me watching the AI do it's thing is one of the beauties of this game...

It's called investing in your hobby
Many people use more on other hobbies than I use on my PC, PC equipment, and games.
Also, a good computer is pretty cheap these days. My rig only cost me about €1200/$1500/9500 NOK (Norwegian Kroner) and this was bought at a Norwegian (Norway is pretty much the most expensive country in the world to live in) online retailer, and was several months ago. Probably about €50-100 cheaper here now, maybe a bit cheaper in the US and the EU.

What is for you "only" 1200 euros, is 4 months salary in some southeast European countries. I have friend in Sweden. Your prices in Scandinavia are only maximum 2x more for any product than here where month salary is on average 300 euros. On calculator your buying power (ability to buy things, comparison of income and spending per family per same time period) is minimum 8x greater than for people only 2000 km south or southeast-east of Scandinavia. About Africa I do not even want to think about.

Hint: I do not ask for donations! LOL

Historydude is in the US, though, which has only 10% less purchase power than Norway
Edit: Just checked the average wage in Norway. Apparently it's 36 600 NOK (excluding over-time) for full-time employees. That's a bit more than 6100 dollars or 4600 euros. Bit of a difference from many places in the world, yeah

How long is it you guys are waiting? Is this a problem of minutes or seconds? I'm not really that far being around year 1120. My end turns are noticeably long but maybe ~30 seconds or so while following AI movement. Is this how long it is?

I remember when Empire first came out and those had really long loading screens of minutes. That was a problem. I wouldn't mind a minute or so.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

i personnaly love all the scripts. with my old computer i would disable almost all graphic options, music, ai moves, don't build watchtowers do fow cheat then remove at end of each turn, and it helped alot.
but know i have this new computer i bought for empire and the turns are only at 30 secs with everything maxed out!
