Try deleting the preferences.txt first.
where is that
In the Rome Total War folder.
I dont see it
If you are using Vista or 7, unhide all files and folders in Folder Options and search for preferences.txt.
If you are using Vista or 7 it will be in the 'virtual store' or 'appdata' area. Run %appdata% and follow the logical path. You need to have changed your folder options as irishron has posted.

Sorry i'm new to windows 7 how do you unhide the files/folders
Click Start.
In the window above it, wtie folder options and click on it.
Click the view tab, and about half way down you will find it.
Were you able to start a campaign? You have to start a campaign to generate one.
I did start a campaign in both RTW and RTW:BI but i think the 3 kingdoms mod deleted the games
Is 3 Knigdoms modfoldered? You may want to check its folder.
If you could start a campaign after you installed the mods, the file should have been generated someplace.

Ii it were me, Id do a total uninstall of RTW/BI, deleting all trace of it and the mods, reinstall it and the mods one at a time, test each install before installing the next one to find the culprit. I would also make 3 Kingdoms last being a language neither one of us read nor understand. If it's a mod made for 1.0 or even 1.3, it may not work on 1.5.
Personally, I'd install vanilla RTW and RTW BI and get them working. Then take a copy of the game folder and copy it to another folder at the same level - call it what you want. Then install the mods to the new folder. That way if it messes up all you need to do is delete the copy folder - you should still have a clean RTW/RTW BI Install.
