Refusal to start up./"CTD" (Edited.)
I dont know how to describe this problem it only occured recently. A few months Earlier same OS as now (Windows 7) Rome total war and its expansion worked perfectly. Now they start up, When the word Sega of the intro video appears it Goes to the desktop. But it does not crash If i go into it again and manage to cancel the intro It starts to load and goes to the desktop again... Every single time Reinstalled it twice. Several compatability modes Still nothing.
Could it be that my RTW gold CD might be damaged? or more specificaly the Info/Data on it? As the CD/DVD looks fine no scratches.
And i am looking But Using search is impossible as i have no clue to how this is called.. Nothing similar found so far

Re: Refusal to start up./"CTD" (sort of.)
Yeah only one hardware change. a new Second Internal Harddisk/drive as far as i can remember Nothing else has changed.. (After i Installed RTW again that is. ) But that shouldnt be it.. because it worked fine after i had it installed (the HD) Guesswork at this moment i think.. Hmm.. this is just very strange Edit: -Reparing- the installed gamefiles.. I did install it on my new HDD for this try same results as when i had it on my Normal one. i think something somewhere has gone wrong but what? Hardware.. I dont think so but looking into will not be a priority... Going to test various compatability modes

Re: Refusal to start up./"CTD" (sort of.)
Before you reinstalled, did you run the uninstaller, delete the Rome folders, run a registry cleaner, reboot and then install?
My guess is you still have something left on your harddrive(s), being Win7, in the hidden %appdata% folder.

Re: Refusal to start up./"CTD" (sort of.)
Hmm yeah that Might be it. i did that once But i didnt reboot. So i guess i will Uninstall it again. But then with a regisry cleaner and reboot after it. I will try it tomorrow morning.
EDIT: It worked. Registery cleaning and then rebooting.. (Spelling is still bad i know. And firefox's Spelling thing doesnt help if it installs itself in my native language... Heh ahh well)
So far it works. Ill try it for a week if it doesnt happen then, then its solved i suppose EDIT2: Forget it... It still happens now. first start up it worked.. the other 2 tries same problem as before. I cant keep uninstalling, cleaning, rebooting, and installing every time i want to play... This is quite strange Another edit: it seems to work but only if i launch it Directly from the Disc.
It is just very strange. Alt tabbing twice gives the same effect (if i am in the game.. ) Compatability modes break it even further Win98/ME = Refusal to start up completely WinXP = The same problem as i have normally.. but a bit different.. (No skipping the intro video.. like when i press alt +f4 i close something that was open in the background when i started it.. like a Folder in wich the game could be....) tried running it with the -show_err added.. but since it doesnt crash it is of no use...
Does anyone have a clue? I tried playing a mod but that doesnt work. Only launched from the Disc it works. (From the same screen you get to install it. ) Could it be a .exe problem? ( I have Gold edition if it would matter wich it doesnt i think... )
Another edit: Come on guys... I will update my drivers if that is possible.. (Most should be up to date if not all) if the problem still persists i really need help.. But im sure it isnt my hardware MTW and MTW II still work as do other games.. (Doing the updates anyways.... ) Edit: Drivers are up to date... (looked and no new versions could be found. ) Im really clueless now aaand I dont want to bump this...
And.. Another edit: Tried and found the Appdata It doesnt have Anything related to RTW at all only for ETW this problem is just so strange.. my RTW gold is 1.5/1.6 if anyone has a .exe of gold too with those version could you send it? (to replace mine to see if its a .EXE fault I need help here as im not good at doing this.. alone
Edit: I did read about W7's UAC that i should disable it.. i know where its supposedto be but it isnt there? (All i can change is if it shows those warnings or not... Thats all the options it gives me.) And just a random thing... why does RTW have a CD-key included in the box? (I never needed it to play or to install it.. wich i always found quite strange )
