    Default Arnorian morale

I cant help myself from noticing how extremely low the morale of my soldiers is
In the description it says "Excellent morale" but my soldiers are even more cowardly then some god damn snagas
they are shaken when marching towards the enemy for no reason. Breeland militia ussually fought until at least 1/3 of them were dead, but Arnorian Man-at-arms start running after 2 of them die

and I am not even talking about Sergants, I order 4 units to charge 5 orc units, and then start running immediately after the first contact

dont take this like a childish whining but I am seriously disapointed. I was looking forward to have Arnor units and now I'd rather recruit some merchants again

Well you should take the reasons for waiving into consideration. There are lots of them:

    > missing own family members / generals
    > moral boosting enemy family members / generals
    > strong enemies (trolls etc.)
    > stamina
    > fire arrows
    > uphill terrain
    > climate
    > missing experience
    > duration of the battle
    > outnumbering ("the enemy is gaining the upper hand")

You should always watch your units status. there are even obvious tips: "only a genius can win this battle".
In this case you should react and pull back these units.

and if you really want to make a difference, edit the files to make the arnorian soldiers "hardy" or "very_hardy"

i use arnor for they are my favorite faction. i never had a problem with my morale. my troops continue to fight on even if my general dies and i play on VH/VH. there has been few times where my army will route when my general dies, but majority of time they fight to the death which sometimes gets me mad because i try to preserve them for a second battle.

Arnor Men at Arms have a way better morale than Breeland Militia and have higher attack-values. If you would let them fight each other in a custom battle then Breeland militia don't stand a a chance.

Men at Arms are only really effective if you wear the enemy down, even on flat terrain, pikemen (on guard mode) will hold a line pretty well, the shield wall for the milita as been added, and it isnt as densed as Gondor shield walls. so thats pretty handy to use seige battles. But use these two units to wear them down. Also use cav to preform hit and run charges on weak units, usually win an easy battle like that - always use flame arrows to help turn the tideof a battle very quick, but i recommend to self managed were they fire, because you can make your own unit rout

I dont "need" help, I was just asking... their morale might be done wrong unintentionaly, what do I know

and you dont have to be so offensive for no reason, right?

Id imagine its down to numbers fighting against horde type armies...

A full orc/gob stack vs a full human/elf stack, the human/elves will always be outnumbered, it only takes a few elite enemy units (like trolls for instance) and suddenly the computer considers your chances slim-to-none. If you then lose a fair amount in the initial contact it can result in mass morale loss and once one unit breaks it tends to spread quite quickly if you dont get it under control.

I've never had a unit route ever, unless they had only 2 or 3 men left. I guess I'm just better at the game than you...

    *sigh* Pointless sniping aside...

Did these instances happen with one army of yours, or several? Against one enemy army, or several?

If your troops flee that quickly I'd suspect there are general traits at work. Perhaps the enemy general had a very high dread/fear score? Or perhaps yours had a bunch of traits that lower morale?

Check the enemy general, maybe he has high fear.

    you can get arnor!
These are the steps to get them:

    1)Tharbad to Ettenmoors (cold fells)
    2)Shire to Mitheitel (Hoarwell)
    3)form an alliance with Gondor
4)restore the house of kings in annuimous
(change all you settlements to growth it will go faster)
(it needs to be a large city)
