Default 2 Turns per Year & Characthers aging set to 0.5 YPT - minimod ON STANDBY

A year takes now 2 turns and characthers also age at same rate in this mini-mod.
Features included right now (campaigns for EARLY ERA):

    • Aging of characthers set to previous SS versions (0.5 years per turn)
    • Turns set to 2 per year
    • OPTIONAL: Custom diplomacy (Seljuk allied with Fatimids; Spain, Portugal Aragon at war with Moors, reflecting the Reconquista; Byzantine Empire at war with Seljuks; Denmark allied with Norway; HRE allied with Papal States; France allied with Scotland)
    • OPTIONAL: Building cost and building time upgraded to 2 TPY (slight increases for low-tier buildings and bigger increases for up-tier buildings)

When I find out how to change education and etc, that will be also be included

Installation: Just put the files in your SS6.3 folder.
WARNING: If you run SS_Setup after installing this Mod, it will longer make no effect, so you'll have to re-install the mod again, since the setup overwrites files this mod includes.

Right now this mod is on 'hiatus', since I have uninstalled 6.3 until there is a fix to play without RR. Right now I'm back to 6.1. Read below

EDIT: If you want to make it yourselves it's quite simple. Just head onto Medieval 2 Total War folder, then mods/ss6.3/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign and change the following files:

First head onto campaign_script.txt, open it up with Notepad, search for AGEING SCRIPT and delete all the entries related to AGEING SCRIPT. Next, head to descr_strat and look for timescale. It should be 1.00 or so, so change it to 0.50 and voilá. You must do this after installing any mod that changes these two files, so I would advise that anytime you install a mod, check out the files again to see if they were replaced. Pretty simple, and you can play with any mod you like

In this mod I've also slightly increased building times, but not doubled them. It's implemented in the file which say customdiplomacyandbuildings. If you want to use it just download that files and unzip it to a temporary folder. Then look for the file descr_strat_buildings.txt and put it in your ss6.3/data folder. remember to backup the original one.

IMPORTANT: Remember to back up the two files every time you change them in case of anything going wrong.

Yes I know, that applies to the turns, but as for characthers they continue aging 1TPY, and if someone can help, how can I make characthers to age 0.5 TPY again? Thanks.

Aging is controlled by the campaign script now

And there is no way to change it? Or can it be easily modded? If so, where should I head to change it? Thanks.

I see, thanks anyway. I was about to start an Hot-seat campaign with my cousin this Friday, we both prefer the old way aging style, but if there is no easy way to change it thanks anyway, we'll play the 6.2 version. If anyone comes up with an alternative, please say so. Thanks anyway I'll play 6.3 myself

Are you'all kidding me???? Ya mean all my chivalrous city builders are gonna tank it early and there's no remit to it?????

Man that's gonna suck it ...."Hard". Downloading alones gonna take me forever and a day so if anyone comes up with a home ready for the realistic aging and death please let us know....

Otherwise I guess the only course of action is Acquiescence and Submission...

Just delete the Ageing script section in the campaign script.

Many thanks for the reply. I suppose that is a file in the data section, right?
Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

Thank you very much for the reply. I'll mod it myself and test it and post it for further use if anyone wishes to use it as well. Thanks again

Characters accumulate traits a bit faster now anyway, especially when it comes to education. If normally your characters lived up to about 65, then that was about 90 in-game turns, while now its gonna be only 45 turns.

Well, if I find out how to delay that as well, I will post it here so they regain their education normally as they would in previous versions adapted to 0.5 TPY.

Finished modding the file, not adjusted traits and education yet to 0.5 TPY, but here are the files, just put them on mods\SS6.3\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign 0.5 TPY game and characthers age the same rate. Untested yet.

By the way, I made some changes to the starting diplomacy. Some alliances early on and some wars early on.

Look for the files in first post of this thread.

Do you have to start a new game for the slower aging to take effect ?

Yes, you have to restart a game so changes take effect. Besides that, you have to tell me your game configuration, so I can make a file compatible with your setup (I mean gracul AI or Savage AI, permanent towers etc.) because each file is not compatible with each other, which makes modding harder in this 6.3 version.

I recommend you ask Historydude about how he did his sub-mod. It uses only one installer for all versions.
BTW, do you want me to put your sub-mod in my Compendium?

Technically the installer is not needed. All the work is been done by the SS_setup.exe. Documentation is located in data/campaign.
