Indeed it was. Searching for "saints with lilacs" quickly produced the answer. This is Saint Anthony of Padua seen in the standard iconographical image cradling the infant Jesus and holding a flower. He (Saint Anthony, not Jesus) is the patron saint of lost things and, among many other spiritual deeds, would preach to the fishes who flocked to hear his message of Christian redemption and salvation, demonstrating that they, mere creatures, were more receptive of the true teachings of the Catholic Church than his human but pagan contemporaries. At least so goes the hagiography.
