Stainless Steel 6.3 Released

First off great job. I skimmed through the FAQ and didnt see what I was looking for. I installed and it gave me a few options such as AI and campaign. Now that I started a Early era campaign I would like to try out a Late era campaign but dont see the option while in game. How can I go about playing the late era campaign? Im assuming during the install I had two select both early and late??

In your M2TW folder under mods/SS6.3 there is a file called SS_setup, where you can set up the settings for a new game. The normal launcher can only manage One current gamesetting at a time... So everytime you need to change something, like you want to play a late era campaign you have to do it that way... I think it is because otherwise it would crash, like it did in the previous versions when you changed from late to eary campaign...

Thanks for the help. I also ticked perm arrows and its killing my weak system. Any way of turning this off without having to restart my campaign?

I got all the files and without uninstalling 6.1 I installed 6.3. But then an error popped up. It said Application has errors and re-installation may fix the problem. So I tried MD5 that I have never used.
I downloaded fastsum.exe and install it. Then I generated checksums and brought them into fastsum application. Then I checked the numbers on my fastsum with those on the first post of this thread. All are the same. Am I doing right? What should I do? Should I uninstall 6.1 and reinstall 6.3?

You can edit the dust in the descr_particle text document inside the data folder. At the bottom of the document you will find a section like this. . .

Changing the number after max_particles alters the size of the dust cloud. Changing the numbers after colour_shift, will change the colour of the dust. I hope that helps you.

Meh, I'm confused by the installation.

Every time I get to the actual installation part (I'm using the links from Cappone), it says "Can't create file C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Uninstall Stainless Steel ver 6.3 part 1"

I have the gold edition so I think I have all of the installation requirements filled, don't I?

i downloaded part 1, but i came up as a VCL media file, previous SS downloads i have got have been zip files... is there something i'm doing wrong?? p.s i'm dying to download it!! it looks awesome!! can someone help me out??

Nope. Just don't try to install it with vlc and use "save file as" and not open. The exe does all the work once you downloaded all the .bin parts. Just save everything into the same folder and run the exe.

I finally installed Kingdoms, so I decided it was also high time to upgrade Stainless Steel from 4.2 to 6.3.

Installation seemed to work fine (I used the Alternative Installer by Sean Cappone), but when I use the launcher on the desktop, I get a Steam-related error message. For the record, I don't use Steam. I installed from a DVD. Medieval still seemed to start up fine after that message, though.

The real problem occurs when I try to start a Late Era Campaign (the only campaign option I'm offered). I get a window that says something like: "Select an option from the list". There's no list anywhere, other than the one where I just selected "Late Era Campaign".

I check system.log.txt, and the last line says: "[system.io] [info] exists: missing ../../Program Files (x86)/Medieval II Total War/SS6.3/preferences/player.txt"

I check, and there is indeed no preferences/player.txt. Did the installer neglect to install it? Is something else wrong? I'm really anxious to get started on this.

Download all the files including the .exe into the same folder. Then run the .exe file.

Ok guys i jst downloaded it for a video, i used megaupload and downloaded all parts, they're all in one folder now, have all the right size and i also have SS.exe file, though when i clik on any of them i don't get an installation started, when i double cklick on the exe file i just get the black window for a second but nothing happens...

Hi, ive been having so much trouble lately that i decided to join the forums rather than sifting htru them to find my answers. I am trying to download SS6.3. Ive been playing 6.2 andrealised there was a much better version i could be playing! ANyway, when i download (this is with everything and anything not just SS) all the files appear on my computer as 'Unrecognised file'.

I have seen that ppl are told to 'rename' the file to .exe and that should solve the problem, But it doesnt. Unless by 'rename' you mean something other than right clicking and 'rename' by putting .exe on the end. I think somewhere along the line i have changed the auto 'open with' option for downloaded files to something now it wont recognise anything at all! I have no idea how to change this, if this is infact the problem. Please help!!!!! Im desperate to be able to play SS6.3 and other mods.

err yes can some1 help me, i know this mod was a while ago but i really wanna play stainless steel 6.4 but when i try to download part 1 of the 6.3 using mega upload it comes out as a .bin file ( this might be right cause i am sort of a newb when it comes to downloadin stuff but can some1 confirm it with me? )

As you can see from my username, I am VERY PISSED D:

I just finished downloading part 1 of this awesome mod (no sarcasm, just the installation that sucks ) on the alternate Mega Upload version by Sean Cappone, and I followed all the steps on the installer! I specifically put the file into the Medieval2Totalwar/mods/ section, but then I got an error message saying it couldn't install the Uninstallation thingy in the /mods section! So I was forced to exit the installer and when I searched My Computer I found NOTHING. Its completely gone..

Please help me. Im not tech savvy and this mod would really really make my day...

P.S. If it helps Im using Google Chrome to download this. Please reply ASAP! D:

That is indeed a Problem...

btw.
you need 6 files!
the .exe file only extracts the data from the 5 packages!
if you got only 1 part... you got only the .exe but no data at all!

little hint: do never (really NEVEREVER)downlad files that big with a browser/spyware proggy!
get a downloadmanager!
I am using jDownlader... have no idea if there is a better one... as this one works great for me!
