Default DLV Europa - Welsh units

Just a quick question before I download this (and yes, I've done a search) - I see that Wales is playable in DLV Europa, but have there been any additions to the available units as the game/your kingdom progresses? I ask because I've played another mod where although Wales was made playable, there were no additional units added to those available in the Brittania campaign - which made things a little tiresome in the later period when all the other factions were fielding decent units......

considering welsh was conquered before the late era, that would be why they dont have any andvanced units.

    Where to begin?

    1. I wasn't really after starting a debate on whether Wales should have advanced units, simply asking whether they'd been included, but seeing as the question has come up....
    2. I know that Wales didn't survive as an independent nation (arguably, it never existed as an independent nation but that's a different subject) but this is a game in which the player gets to change the course of history - England didn't ever get to conquer Italy, or France get to conquer Greece, but those things are possible in the game.
    3. And, bearing in mind this is a game where we're creating alternative histories, in an alternative history where Wales not only survived but defeated England and conquered Scotland, do we really think their advancement in military technology and knowledge would have then come to a halt in 1300? I'll give you a clue in the form of another question - did all of those nations that eventually made use of gunpowder each have to independently discover gunpowder for itself and each independently go on to develop musket style weapons whilst unaware of and unable to make use of technologies developed elsewhere?

Unit limit (500) had been reached in the EDU so there was no possibility of adding further units without sacrificing some others. You can however recruit mercenaries which take advantage of later technological developments.

Wales are supposed to be the hardest faction to play anyway but their main inclusion was to make some amends to redressing the superpower that England normally becomes.

Thanks for answering the question I asked. And I can appreciate the reasons for the answer. Have there been any changes to the range and availability of mercs on offer, by the way, or is it still pretty much the same as vanilla?

There is a great deal of variety and availability of mercs in Europa compared to vanilla.
