    Default Generals, Prince and Vassal

Can somebody please answer these questions..

    1. How do i get a general that is NOT a family member? I did it once when I was playing Sicily but not in any other factions (Engalnd, France, HRE, etc.) I've also tried bribing rebel generals, but they cost WAY too much. I've also tried to let them marry my own princess but they end up in the family tree. (btw I'm not trying to marry her to the heir but the stealing kind of marriage. )

    2. How do i get princess from other factions to marry my non-family generals? I want it so I can produce more non-family generals. It accidentally happened when i was assigning my non family generals to put in towers around my kingdom, when suddenly a princess walk into one of my generals and tried to steal him but instead he stole her.

    3. And last, how do I get someone as my vassal? I can't convince the AI to become my vassal even though they have only one territory left and i have trustworthy reputation. Do I need to have immaculate rep to convince anyone to become my vassal?

    T.I.A. =)

Ans1)I don't think that's possible coz we get generals via adoption, man of the hour and marriages and they instantly add up in the family tree. Bribing is the only way to do that. Play as hre they have certain generals in start of the campaign that are not in the family tree.
Btw I'm talking about vanilla if u are playing a mod then i don't know in SS though u can recruit generals in baron stables or something.

Ans2) Only the diplomat can negotiate with a princess to marry ur faction heir and no other general. A princess sometimes gets disgraced when she fails to convince our general to join her faction so in this way a general that is not a heir gets a princess indirectly.

Ans3) For vassaling the best way is to surrond the settlement with 3-4 armies, make forts in their regions and cause devastaion of their lands and then send a diplomat so that they become ur vassal. offer them a few surrounding settlements that belonged to them so that they agree with you.

Aren't 'man of the hour' generals not included in the family tree?

In some of the kingdoms campaigns you start with non family tree generals. They will marry and have children sometimes, which is confusing because you can't keep track of them.

In normal Medieval 2, each general is related to the family tree, but in Kingdoms you can train 'General's Bodyguard' which is useful if you don't want him to inherit the faction, maybe you can also try 'KGCM' as it brings more regions in it, a great mod indeed

okay, thank you for the replies..

1 & 2. I guess the princess that tried to get one of my generals is a fluke. (I'm playing HRE btw) But can that non-family general get married to some local girl? So they can produce more non-family generals. I've seen this happened when I played Sicily. I let my princess marry one of the family generals of Venice (which pissed them off and declared war on me) and she disappeared from my family tree. Then all of a sudden I get this faction notice that a new family member is born but they are not listed on the family tree. I thought it was a glitch or some sort and I continued playing. But when they turned 16, I got this general with no ties with the royal family. I figured it was the son of my princess and that general from Venice. And what I did was let that general marry one of my princess so I can have my unlimited supply of non-family generals. I've tried this on my current HRE campaign but they ended up on the family tree.

    3. ...

I'm not using any mod. I like Medieval 2 as it is.

Man of the Hour generals get adopted into the family. The ONLY way to get a non family general is using a mod that allows high level stables too produce units of generals body guards, like stainless steel! 6.3.

One of my generals actually glitched. He almost created his own, unviewable family tree. He wasnt in my family. but it asked him to get married, and then every so often it would ask if his children would like to get married, and his boys came of age

    2. You don't
    3. Destroy them almost completely do diplomatic negotiations yourself.

Okay, thank you for the replies. I hope these glitches happened to me often. And also, I hope they make another Medieval series. With more diplomatic options, assassinations, and all other stuff. Consider this thread solved.

Something like that, yes. And besides, I don't want to be the one who will wipe a faction out. I let the AI do that for me. Even though I'm a tyrant hiding behind a trustworthy reputaion, I still have a conscience

    Regarding vassals.

If you are in the HRE "short campaign" and you have the campaign conditions to eliminate Denmark and Milan in order to achieve victory. Can making either one of this factions a vassal to your kingdom be considered by the game as the faction itself being eliminated?

No in short you need to eliminate them in order to win the campaign:-
