Default Let Sheehan meet the president

This is taken from another blog
I have a very simple solution to the entire Cindy Sheehan affair.

Let her meet with the President.

That's right. I've finally changed my tune.

Let her meet with the President who thwarted the United Nations Security Council and made the case for war.

Let her meet with the President who hindered the progress of United Nations weapons inspectors.

Let her meet with the President who lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction that they'd use on Americans.

Let her meet with the President who killed thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians.

Let her meet with the President who came to office in a rigged election, and maintained his grip on power through rigged voting and militaristic patriotism.

Let her meet with the President who turned his country's media into a mouthpiece for his fascist and discriminatory policies.

Let her meet with the President who transformed his country into a single-party dictatorship, sowing fear and resentment against any who dared to oppose his iron-fisted rule.

Let her meet with the President who proved himself a coward by fleeing when his country was attacked.

Let her meet with the President who should be brought up on war crimes charges for his dastardly misdeeds.

Let her meet with the President who spent billions of dollars on weapons while social welfare programs went unfunded and the poor continue to suffer for it to this day.

Let her meet with the President who has a track record of invading Arab Muslim countries for oil.

Let her meet with the President who knew full well about the bloodthirsty torture and murderous horrors at Abu Ghraib.

That's right. Let her meet with Saddam Hussein.

I agree with many of those points, and if the democrats in this country weren't such pussies maybe something would have been done. This is a perfect example of why The Republicans are the only real party in America. Clinton gets his willy wacked, its an American scandal resulting in his impeachment. Bush does all the things listed above (or some of them, those I agree with...) and the Democrats....what....? complain endlessly about how little power they have? Blech...

*ZOOOM* right over your head. Reread the entire post, I think its obviously satire mocking Sheehan and her demands to meet the President.

Sheehan has the courage to stand up to Bush.

Yeah, she has the courage to join the liberal bandywagon against Bush. Puts her right up there with the Alamo and the 300 at Thermopolye.

Sheehan has moral superiority because of the loss of her son.

And all the other grieved mothers who SUPPORT the war DON'T?!?

I think the real hero here is her son, who voluntarily joined and reenlisted.

It's a listing all these things which democrats have been screaming about and then pointing out Saddam did those things, not Bush.

    Satire.

    Satire.
No, Bush did those things too.
This is why it can look as if they are talking about Bush.

I think Bush and Saddam could be great friends if Bush wasn't so jealous of his oil.

Yeah that's right. Bush has camps that he uses to torture liberals who disagree with him.

The artical is making you think it's about Bush and then slapping you with the Saddam thing. It shows things that Leftists like to label Bush as, then shows you who actualy did them.

Even satire has elements of truth in it...Bush AND Sadaam could be said to have done many of those things.....so whats the point of this thread exactly? You might as well compare Bush to Hitler if you really want to get a flame war going.

You dont have much of a sense of humor do you? I found it rather humerous because there are elements of truth in it which is what makes good satire well good satire. I swear some of you guys need a sense of humor.

"I have a very simple solution to the entire Cindy Sheehan affair.

Let her meet with the President.

That's right. I've finally changed my tune.

Let her meet with the President who thwarted the United Nations Security Council and made the case for war.

(Thwarted? Dunno bout that, but he certainly rushed his case for war and many accusations of falsified documents have been thrown around. This Bush administration has no moral qualms about pretty much just making up documents as they please. Richard Clarke explained various situations where The Republicans had been caught red handed operating and relying on blatantly bad intelligence. look up the transcript for yesterdays Daily Show if you dont believe me.)

Let her meet with the President who hindered the progress of United Nations weapons inspectors.

(I dont agree with this point as much as I agree that Bush hindered the process of a more peacful solution. There are other ways of removing people from power other than just war.)

Let her meet with the President who lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction that they'd use on Americans.

(Truth. Bush & Co. had to sell the war to the American public...hence...WMDS! WMDS! WMDS! Look out behind you, its Sadaam with a nuclear tipped warhead!)

Let her meet with the President who killed thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians.

(Disagree with this point. Presidents are always seen as being responsible for the deaths that happen under their watch. People were blaming Bush for Hurricane Katrina as well. The truth is that Bush could be a much more competent President, but he isnt committing genocide out there either.)

Let her meet with the President who came to office in a rigged election, and maintained his grip on power through rigged voting and militaristic patriotism.

(I have no proof that Bush rigged the 2000 or the 2004 elections, But I believe it anyway.)

Let her meet with the President who turned his country's media into a mouthpiece for his fascist and discriminatory policies.

(Partly true I guess, it was the Republicans PR machine that sold America onto this war in the first place, and don't forget the White Houses direct connection to major news networks such as Fox news.)

Let her meet with the President who transformed his country into a single-party dictatorship, sowing fear and resentment against any who dared to oppose his iron-fisted rule.

(True again I guess. These modern day Republicans really hate dissent amongst their ranks. Whereas past presidents would welcome differing opinions and make their decisions based on a debate between two sides, these republicans in office today already know the answer before they even ask the question.)

Let her meet with the President who proved himself a coward by fleeing when his country was attacked.

(Fleeing? I don't remember Bush fleeing,...I remember him freezing up like the vegetable of a president that he is. Anyway, I dont believe that Bush is the man in power anyway. They probably only wake Bush up for the important meetings...why else was Bush reading to kindergardners anyway? Duhh...because more capable people are running the country, Bush isnt the brains behind the operation)

Let her meet with the President who should be brought up on war crimes charges for his dastardly misdeeds.

(Dastardly deeds or not...he should at least be heavely criticized for his incompetence. Unfortunatly most of the country are "Red states", so they find his lack of intellect and friendly "cowboy" texan attitude charming. This is why America is always the stupid country.)

Let her meet with the President who spent billions of dollars on weapons while social welfare programs went unfunded and the poor continue to suffer for it to this day.

(Disagree with this. America has been neglecting social welfare, public education and poverty issues for the longest time now. We'd rather put all our money into the military, for some reason. Bush isnt at fault here, although he does perpetuate the trend...so I guess hes just as much at fault as past administrations.)

Let her meet with the President who has a track record of invading Arab Muslim countries for oil.

(Agreed. The ties between corporations such as Haliburton and the White House are deeply disturbing to me. Was Abraham Lincoln sponsored by crude oil as well? Maybe in 2008 we'll have a candidate who's brought to us by Pepsi and another one by Coke and the Cola wars can begin anew again! I think its sickening how much influence money has on politics, and oil being the richest business today, its quite obvious why Bush (ex-oil company) and Cheney (ex-Satan) wanted to go into Iraq, and why we keep good relations with Saudi Arabia when we SHOULDN'T.)

Let her meet with the President who knew full well about the bloodthirsty torture and murderous horrors at Abu Ghraib.

(I don't think they tell Bush much of anything they dont want him to know.)

That's right. Let her meet with Saddam Hussein"

Actually they are accusations against Bush, which is why they're so similiar.

You know when you guys claim democrats/liberals/whatever you call them bashing republicans/conservatives/whatever you call them is not funny? Well this is even worse than that, it is not funny and it is in bad taste. Oh yeah and it just plain stupid...

I have a sense of humor, just not when I woke up 20 mins ago and not about this. Maybe if I read the article from beginning to end I would have chuckled, but I don't read articles that way. I start at the beginning, I scroll to the end to see how long it is, then I scroll up to the beginning and start anew. I had already seen the ending sentence before I had even gotten to the meat and potatoes of the article.

Anyway....this isnt even that good of satire, Southpark pulls of smarter and funnier all the time.

I'm not sure Bush is smart enough to formulate some plan to get oil... If that is true, it was probably some influential oil companies that were whispering in his ear.

I would think the point of the article is to highlight that, what you would expect from Bush is just like Saddam... Therefore, it is disturbing to think of the current (as in currently used explanation) argument for war ("Saddam was bad.... so ... we liberated them... ya...") is exactly identical to situations in the US.

Maybe Saddam should have liberated us.

The point seems to be to highlight the similarities between Saddam and Bush.

IIRC 50% of his cabinet memebers have previously worked in/for the oil industry.
I am sure they, together, could come up with a plan.

For the last time, this thread is not about Bush. The point of the Satire is not to point a fingure at Bush. The point of the Satire is to show those who accuse Bush of such rediculous acts, that another man has actualy done all of them. That person Being Saddam.
    Now I get it.
You mean to say Saddam is as bad as Bush is.
I agree, Saddam is evil, he deserves to be compared to Bush.

Also the fact that Cheney, one example, is an EXTREMELY intelligent person.
