General portrait

Well i have an addiction of creating generals lol

how do i select with portrait i want them to have? and where can i see previews of the ones i can select from?

You have to place portraits in a folder called custom_portraits.
After that just assign the name of the folder inside the custom_portraits folder to the character in the descr_strat.txt file.
Like for eg:
You paste a folder called rufusxy containing the 3 files(young, old, dead.tga) with respesctive folders in the custom_portraits folder.
After that go in the descr_strat.txt file and under the character entry add the line highlighted in blue
character Rufus, named character, male, heir, age 24, x 143, y 209, portrait rufusxy

so it can be any type of picture format? does it have to be a certain size?

It has to be .tga type and should have a width of 69 and a height of 96.

what do you use to make a TGA file?

You can use programs like Photoshop, GIMP, PaintDotNet.
