Hit me with what you got, I want to explore an area of music I haven't payed as much attention to as it deserves. Would especially like to hear some great bass playing.

This is a song that I played in jazz band in high school, although ours was arranged for a whole band.
And there is Maynard Ferguson's version...

One of the coolest melodies out there:
This one has a great groove:
This one is just fun:
Cannonball Adderley (Alto player in the middle) has a great sound, and great traditional solos. He doesn't go too "out there", but everything he does flows nicely, and that's why I love him!
Wayne Shorter's a great tenor player, his sound nice, full, and unique.

Suum cique (To each their own) -Motto of the Kingdom of Prussia
The Crown of Aragon AAR- The Iberian Supremacy
^Human hubris knows no bounds.
Probably the best jazz album, Miles Davis' 'Kind of Blue'
John Zorn
Sun Ra
Bohren & der Club of Gore
John Coltrane
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Calexico (not a jazz band except a few songs, but I love this one and it's got a great bassline)
For great bass playing, Charles Mingus is definitely the way to go.
I really like Stan Kenton as well. High energy big band jazz.
Finally, Art Blakey. Probably the most famous jazz drummer.

I love a bit of jazz now and then, particularly into Wes Montgomery and Charlie Parker.
Gotta love good ol' Glenn Miller
Can't beat the classics.
Not exactly jazz, but gotta love the bass
Check out the album Somethin' Else by Cannonball Adderley.
And of course Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. Must haves.
