After playing Shogun Total War when it first came out I've been waiting for a Total War game that takes place in the future with space marines from all the countries and a giant space cannon that they fight over to control the planet and make empires and be kings and make armies that have 120, 000 troops each and can build bases and robots and bombs and kill each other.

i would definitely go to my local electronics retail store and buy a game like that and not steal it, as long as it allowed me to control the entire universe and get a lot of achievements, and it featured space pirates with plasma cutlasses and hot naked full breasted aliens. Along with thrifty bounty hunters with power cannons for hands.

YES! I thought I was the only one who wanted this! They should totally make a game like this!! So long as there's the space cannon and you can rule the whole universe and there's aliens!!! They should also make another version where it's in the Roman Empire but they have guns and lasers and tanks and electricity and medicine and the aliens allied with the Gauls!!!!!! I have been wishing for this game to come out and was upset with Shogun II getting announced...

As for the original question:
You could always go out and get Space Empires V, Sins of a Solar Empire, Star Wars: Empire at War, X3 Terran Conflict, etc.

Imagine the uproar it will cause in every TW forums when the Star Wars: Total War was announced.
It is impossible for CA to make a totally unrealistic (unhistorical I mean) TW game when their fanbase keep complaining (and modding) about bicorns, shakos, legions, knights, and artillery.

Every new title brings new fans to the TW franchise. I remember the time when some people hated the fact that ETW was announced because it would focus around gunpowder.

Now ETW and NTW have been released, new members have joined the forum and a WW1 mod is up and running.
I don't mind a futuristic TW (á la Terminator, Star Wars, whatever) or some sort of alternate history where Germany has won WW1 or WW2 or have a Red Alert setting where the Soviet Union is set to conquer the world. As long as the Total War setup doesn't change (turn based campaign map + real time battles) I'm all for it.

No ing space marines and future crap. Go play Starcraft 2.

Agreed. Though I hate futuristic games, but the TW engine is unique (unlike AOE) and no other games had simillar combination of real time battles and turn-based campaigns except Imperial Glory, which is awful compared to NTW even RTW.
