Default Something went horribly wrong- Pleas help

I tried to unlock the factions by modding. People said it was simple as cut and paste. Now I have the factions for imperial play but once I select any faction and try to play it redierects me to the single player screen. I simply can't play imperial games now. What went wrong?

Might have edited the wrong text file. I recomend that next time you try to unlock the factions use the rome tool as it will do it for you in an easy to understand way.

I'm not ruling out a mess-up on my part, but this has really got me scratching my head. I followed a guide on this forum to a T and now I'm screwed. Could anybody here give me instructions if they know for sure how it's supposed to be. Like if you could show me a cop/pasted image of what the file is supposed to look like. The guide just listed it down in a long column but it's not formatted and spaced exactly like the file.

First thing is to add the -show_err switch to the shortcut properties target - how to do that is in one of the sticked topics. It may return an error message when you exit the game.

    It's buried in this thread:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=62217

Changing the file really is simple. What you need to realize is that the text files used to be Excel Spreadheets that have been exported as text. The position of characters can be very important. So, make sure they look the same as they did before.

Another thing you need to do is to delete the map.rwm files before you restart the game. It's safe to delete any you find as the files are created from other text files when the game is lacunhed if it's not there. This will result in a slight delay.

I'd recommend not using any downloads that are supposed to do the editing for you. In the past people have had problems with them. This may be due to the original version of RTW that you have - I'm not sure. I did a comparison once against my RTW vanilla file and there was a lot more changed other than the playable factions.

    You mean like:

    campaign imperial_campaign
    options bi
    playable
    romans_julii
    romans_scipii
    romans_brutii
    parthia
    egypt
    seleucid
    carthage
    gauls
    germans
    britons
    greek_cities
    macedon
    pontus
    armenia
    dacia
    scythia
    spain
    thrace
    numidia

    end
    unlockable
    end
    nonplayable
    slave
    end?

When you were through with your changes did you delete the map.rwm and start a new campaign?

I had that same problem the 1st time I tried it. The reason for that is because you need to have at least ONE faction listed in the nonplayable section. Personally, I would choose slaves for that section.

Here, I uploaded it for you! Just replace this descr_strat file with your current descr_start file!
    Here is the download link.
    descr_strat.txt
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The descr_srat file I am providing has every faction playble except the slaves (Rebel faction)!

    Hope this all helps!
