    Default Alternative Histories for BI

Doesn't it piss you off, that after leading Macedonia to victory in RTW, Barbarian Invasion ignores your efforts to destroy Rome and turn history upside down?

I think it would be a good idea to make a series of mods, each one based on the premise that a particular none-Roman nation (preferably non-barbarian) kicked ass in RTW. Thus, instead of Eastern and Western Roman Empires, you get Eastern and Western Greek Leagues fighting the Huns and Germans. The Roman culture will be completely replaced with the relevant culture, and Roman units will never appear accept as "Latin Rebels" and such.

The series could look like this, and for pragmatic reasons the enemies you face will be the same in each.
*Hellenic Europe Total War: Barbarian Invasion (Greek/Macedonian mod)
    *Carthaginian Total War: Barbarian Invasion
*Ptolemaic Empire Total War: Barbarian Invasion (Egyptian Mod)
*Celtic Glory Total War: Barbarian Invasion

The units the newly dominant factions will have will be mostly speculative, as we don't know for sure how they would have adapted over time, which will hopefully give modders and skinners a chance to be creative.

A good start to a mod idea; I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about this.

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

The only problem i see with this is we don't know how these civilizations would have evolved by this point. How would their armies look? How would their governments operate? etc.?

That's the whole interest! Speculation around "what if..." is a great way of modding.

I really like the idea. If you want to start a team, I'd be happy to join you but I couldn't do much more than giving ideas or research.

They would have to have the look and feel of the BI invasion period, chainmail, round shields etc but still be recognisable as that particular culture.

The Greeks would be easiest so I'd start with them, as you just use the little pictures from Alexander to replace the Roman themed ones.

Some modders or mappers anywhere? All I can do is edit text and pictures.

So many questions! I look forward to Parthian Legionnaires
l'm unsure about an Eastern mod, wouldn't Parthians just be Green Sassanids?

They may have adopted a system similar to the Roman system in terms of military. Maybe a local varient of Legionnaires?

Why would you adapt do something you have beaten. Say for example Pyrrhus did conquer Rome, why should he now adapt to their military system? He has just beaten them and made them kneel before him, his military system is therfore better and he should continue developing it instead of changing to something else. But that also means anything can happen, cavalry could start to crumble to using only elephants, and we could see many types of elephants instead of the ones we have now (like, spearmounted elephant, with spears attached to his body) Idk, what Pyrrhus thinks is the most crucial force in his army should be heavily researched for new ways of using it.

He wouldn't totally disregard the enemy system, he would assimilate the best aspects of it into his own and go from there.

I think that, for the Greeks, a hoplite like the sacred band in amazon: total war would be best. Chainmail, gladius-like sword, still has breastplate, but with chainmail underneath. I can post an attachment with the models and textures, if you want.

The vanilla Sassanids have that awful cyan colour, don't they? When you see a colour like that you kind of expect Mickey Mouse to pop up at any second.

Needless to say, cyan is my sworn enemy!
