Would it be possible to list the new features that are going to be available in RS2 (in one list) so we can contemplate the great things to look forward to? (I know, end of sentence preposition. But it is a worthy question)

Ahem , it would be a BIT too long, is there something more specific you'd like to know ?
You could look at all the preview thread (conveniently stickied at the top of the forum) to get an idea.

Like Squid said, most of the info on the new features are in the preview thread. What you can do is take that info and put it into a thread to make it easier to find. Similar to what I did with the Roma Surrectum II: Pictures thread.
+ Most of the new things will be listed in the release thread.

I’ve reviewed the previews quite a bit and they go back quite a ways with many of them having the admonition saying they are preliminary and there might be changes. That said, what I’ve seen is spectacular.
After toying around with some other mods that have great concepts, such as dedicated ports for building warships and others for trading vessels, I came to the conclusion that although they were great ideas, the campaign environment seemed bland and boring compared to the awesome battle and campaign displays in RS; not to mention the detailed skinning jobs done on virtually everything. I know there has been a great deal of attention paid to the rich playing environment, but are there any changes such as those I described above?
Also, I was wondering about the Roman rebels. Will this be a part for the player or will it be strictly for the AI? Other questions: How many legions are available in the new version and how many can we expect to take part in the expected rebellion? Will there be restricted recruitment from specific cities? Will it be possible to choose whether or not to join the rebellion or will the rebellion be against the player?
Those are just some of the things I was curious about. To be truthful, I don’t play habitually because I have a day job and a second career as a writer that takes up most of my time. However, it’s nice to settle in on a campaign occasionally just to free my mind from everything else; you could call it stress relief. I’m in the middle of a game I started two months ago and I try to spend a few hours a week on it. It s great fun and keeps the brain cells firing.
Anyway, thanks for doing a great job and making something that was good, but drab, into something that is truly a visual feast, mesmerizing actually. The reason I’m asking so many questions is that I’s like to think them over before the release comes out (probably everyone else as well).
1: Yes we got commercial ports and war ports.
2: The roman rebels will be a Rome modfolder only meaning that it will only happened when the player is playing the mod using the Roman modfolder and as the roman faction is the only playable faction in the roman modfolder only the player will be able to get a rebellion.
We made it this way as the AI wouldn't be able to repel a threat such as the rebellions and thus more or less killing the roman faction in all campaigns.
3: There is 28 (I think) legions and multiple of Auxillia units. The houserule is that you can only have one of the same legion at once. That means that you for an example shouldn't recruit two Minerva legions.
The recruitments will be restricted much like in RS 1.6a but with a bit more cities to choose from for each legion.
Each legion also got a Rebel skin which means that you can have the same legion as the Rebel AI has but those will have different shields (and maybe some other details I'm not entirely sure)
You cannot choose to join or not join. The rebellion will kick in and you will have to fight them or die.
Also I recommend you to take time to read all three of our Roman previews, much of this is explained there.
There a lot of new features like an entirely new UI, new music, modfolders for each faction, a launcher, new buildings and tons and tons of more stuff.

Again, I cringe at the number of features to include in the release post...

Depends what a "feature" is...
Shiny new textures for all units, a reworked economy system, the roman empire splitting in two, 0-turn recruitement... those are imo the 4 main things that will sum up RS2.
Thanks much for the swift reply. It all sounds incredibly exciting and should prove to be magnificent entertainment. Well done!
Thanks mate.
These kinds of posts are always encouraging.![]()
