    Default Sabaean Unit roster.

I am enjoying playing as the Sabeans so far, just got done building the 4th level barracks in the Saba capital (the one between Carna and Tamane) and unlocked the medium cavalry and the Sabean Noble infantry. I go back into the building browser, right click on the 5th level barrack, and see that I get no new units, not even an experience or morale boost. Is it supposed to be that way? Are the best factional units they get medium cavalry and those noble infantry?

They look ok but how am I supposed to fight Egypt and AS with those things? I know I can get elephants in ethiopia and Red Sea Hoplites too but egypt already has all of Africa except for Axom, and if I take it they will surely break our alliance and stab me in the back and I'll be stuck fighting both Egypt and AS. Are those enough? Is there access to a 5th level of troops in a different province? If not, what kind of army should setup should I produce to stand a chance against the two most powerful factions in the game?

"Aw its easy, you just don't lead them as much!"

You have to rely heavily on tactics instead of force. And i think you don't get better units than those you mentioned with this faction (you can use the recruitment viewer to verify that) which is quite a challenge.
Elephants can be a very helpful.
I never tried that but you could try to take a citiy or two in India and get access to their units? That would not be very realistic history-wise but we can play EB to change history
    Good luck!!

Skirmishers and archer spearmen are your best bet here.

Use them well, and you can beat anything.

Except Seleukid TAB. You'll need axemen for that. Or import some guild warriors from India.

What do I do about heavy cavalry? I have no heavy horse! Oh well, guess I'll start making bunches of archer spearmen and arab infantry.

The medium guys are quite tough. In some regions, you can also hire Hellenistic or Eastern merc generals.

yeah, but anyway they are no threat to the heavy hellenic phalanx...

has athanaric said, conquer asia (paquistan, afganisthan) with the supreme indian longbowmen an the guild warriors... Also I think that the archer spearmen are fantastic, using them like HAs make the phalanx of egypt not great challenge, combined of course with your generals. the Saba campaing are really a great experience

Hmm, well I am now at at 242 BC. Egypt is still my ally, I've been at war with the seleucids for a while but just now engaged them for real up at Charax. Archer Spearmen carried the day as I took out a full stack, took Gerrha and Charax and am considering ditching Charax and making a run to Persepolis just to get some money and to avoid incoming reinforcements. I finally took Axom (In retrospect I should have started in on africa a lot sooner, Egypt has everything else, so thats gonna be a **** eventually) so hopefully now I can get some elephants. The Saba are a pretty cool faction though at first they seem a little underpowered. I still am worried about facing elite phalanxes though. I had to only face two units at charax, both elite phalanxes, and I took like 750 casualties.
