    Icon6 Music with LotR References

Hi all just trying to coming out with a list of songs with references to Lord of the Rings in it. Thought it would would be fun to see how many songs there are and say what in your opinion what you think the song is in reference to in LotR. Maybe it will give you even more inspiration to play TATW.<--- (like that is needed) If you know any songs please list them! I'll add them to the top Thanks all!
Group Song Lyrics *(is whole song) my opinion
    Led Zeppelin Ramble On
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way.
Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do...

Ramble On, And now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song.
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin' roots, The time has come to be gone.
And to' our health we drank a thousand times, it's time to Ramble On.

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her
    , her, her....yeah.

Gonna ramble on, sing my song. Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world. I can't stop this feelin' in my heart
Gotta keep searchin' for my baby. I can't find my bluebird!

^Could it be about the one ring?

    Led Zeppelin Misty Mountain Hop
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Walkin' in the park just the other day, baby,
What do you, what do you think I saw?
Crowds of people sittin' on the grass with flowers in their hair said,
"Hey, Boy, do you wanna score?"
And you know how it is.
I really don't know what time it was, woh, oh,oh
so I asked them if I could stay a while.

I didn't notice but it had got very dark and I was really
    Really out of my mind.
Just then a policeman stepped up to me and asked us, said, "Please, hey,
would we care to all get in line, Get in line."
Well, you know, they asked us to stay for tea and have some fun; Oh, oh,oh.
he said that his friends would all drop by, ooh.

Why don't you take a good look at yourself and describe what you see,
and baby, baby, baby, do you like it?
There you sit, sitting spare like a book on a shelf rustin',
ah, not trying to fight it.
You really don't care if they're comin'; oh, oh,
I know that it's all a state of mind.

If you go down in the streets today, baby, you better,
you better open your eyes. WOAH WOAH YEAH
Folk down there really don't care, really don't care, don't care , really don't , which, which way the pressure lies,
so I've decided what I'm gonna do now.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains
    where the spirits go now,
over the hills where the spirits fly.
    I really don't know.

^The failed attempt to go over the mountains?

Led Zeppelin Battle of Evermore (added by Ozzmosis) *
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Queen of Light took her bow
And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
    And walked the night alone.

Oh, dance in the dark of night,
    Sing to the morn-ing light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all.

Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.

    I hear the horses' thunder
    Down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon,
    Waiting for the eastern glow.

The apples of the valley hold
    The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
    Sing to the morning light.

The apples turn to brown and black,
    The tyrant's face is red.

Oh the war is common cry,
Pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
    That mortals never know.

Oh, well, the night is long
The beads of time pass slow,
    Tired eyes on the sunrise,
    Waiting for the eastern glow.

The pain of war cannot exceed
    The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
    The ringwraiths ride in black,
    Ride on.

Sing as you raise your bow,
    Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.

Oh dance in the dark of night,
    Sing to the mornin' light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
    To bring the balance back.
    Bring it back.

At last the sun is shining,
The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
    The sunlight blinds his eyes.

    Yesss Led Zeppelin!!
Also, their song "Poor Tom" always reminds me of Tom Bombadil, though I think it's about a guy who kills his wife for cheating on him (Goldberry!! ) and is then hung.
Also "Battle of Evermore" must have something in it!

    Here's a tale of Tom
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Who worked the railroads long

His wife would cook his meal

As he would change the wheel

Poor Tom, Seventh Son, Always knew what's goin on

Ain't a thing that you can hide from Tom

There ain't nothing that you can hide from Tom

    Worked for thirty years

    Sharing hopes and fears

    Dreamin' of the day
    He could turn and say

Poor Tom, work's done, been lazin' out in the noonday sun

Ain't a thing that you can hide from Tom

    His wife was Annie Mae

With any man a game she'd play

When Tom was out of town
She couldn't keep her dress down

Poor Tom, Seventh Son, always knew what's goin on

Ain't a thing that you can hide from Tom

And so it was one day

    People got to Annie Mae

Tom stood, a gun in his hand
    And stopped her runnin' around

Poor Tom, Seventh Son, gotta die for what you've done

All those years of work are thrown away

To ease your mind is that all you can say?

But what about that grandson on your knee?

Them railroad songs, Tom would sing to me

Ain't nothing that you can hide from Tom

    Keep-a Truckin'

    Amon Amarth!!!

Not only my Account-Name, also a great Band
(For all who don´t know: Amon Amarth = Mount Doom)

But i´m not sure if any of their songs have relation to LotR,... only in the Song "Amon Amarth" this mountain is mentioned a couple of times, but "the story" of the Song isn´t about LotR.

Battlelore has pretty much all of it's albums on Middle Earth.

Summoning is another great band, lots of Middle Earth music (Beleriand and Northwards are two songs which I currently like... exceptionally).

Nightwish and Blind Guardian were mentioned. Aside from that album though, Blind Guardian also has a song entitled 'Lord of the Rings'.

There's a great guitarist named Colin Rudd, who has sung the LOTR poems/songs into... songs. Lament for Boromir and Gandlaf being two really nice ones.

Also, can't forget the Tolkien Ensemble though they aren't really to my liking.

It's a bit pointless adding the songs of so-called "Tolkien-Bands" such as Morgoth and Amon Amarth! almost all of their songs will invariably be about some aspect of Tolkien!

Correct me if i´m wrong, but only the name of the Band Amon Amarth is linked to Tolkien, their songs always about Vikings, Nordic Mythology and such stuff, never about elves or rohan and other things from Tolkien.
And i only said that the Band refers to Tolkien with their name.

well, unless I'm mistaken there are quite a lot of groups of the 60's inspired by Tolkien; Galadriel's Song, Farewell at Lorien, and others I can't remember. Never heard a song of those though

I'd say your right Beorn shocking to me atleast to see how many songs / entire band albums are and have references to Tolkien's middle earth.
