Chat room and chev/upgrades during multiplayer

Love this game but I'm having a few bug issues during multiplayer use.. Bug #1: is the chat room is non opperative in main lobby. I cant type anything nor can i see anything? Works fine during game play. Bug #2: I cant upgrade units (increase chevrons) after picking my units??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you sure you have enough money to keep upgrading them?

1.) To talk in the main lobby, you need to create or join a room first. You can see what rooms are available in the lower right of the Total War Online screen.


2.) To upgrade units, like DunkFunk says you first need to have enough money to pay for the upgrade. If you have the funds (this varies depending on the unit), click on the unit you want to upgrade, then click the chevron with the '+' symbol over it. See the image below for the location of the appropriate button.

I have the money but still no + - option for chevs? The boxes always remain dark so i can't select

Make sure to left-click on the unit first so it is highlighted white, then you should be able to add rank.

how much money u have?i think its usually around 100 cost, but its unit dependent, so i think it varies a lot.upgrading militia is cheap lol

most likely there isnt a chat room set up.you can set one up yourself, or wait for one to come up in that little box Keiichi screenshotted.once you see a chat group,click it, join it, then you will be able to talk to members, and look at the player list.

ok but i thought there was main one because many ppl are adding passwords to their host games saying all welcome and im thinking, well, how the hell do i ask for the passowrd if i dont have a room to ask in?

You don't.
Password games are created by people waiting for friends to join.

EDIT: ooops, misunderstood the "all welcome" in that sentence.

it says welcome all, because by default the game name when you host is the same as the last game name.so if his open game before was titled "welcome all", and now he has a password-ed game, but he didnt change the name to 'friends only' or whatever-the game is still called "welcome all", even though it has a pwd.
also, once you host or join a game, and go to the unit selection screen, you cant join any chat rooms, or talk to chat group members.you can only do this in the main lobby.
there is no 'main chat room'-they are all made by individuals, for setting up a game or whatever.
its pretty easy to understand tbh, no need even for a manual to work it out

I thought the main chat lobby was broken, has this been fixed?

Last time I used it, I could only type one line and then It wouldn't let me type again and the person that joined my chat couldn't see any text that I wrote.
