Default Parthian's in the Seleucid Campaign

    Hi Guys

I'm currently at 576 AU in my Seleucid campaign (BI, H/H, zero turn) and have pretty much got the Parthian's on the back foot. Here's a screen shot of the campaign in 561.

Now, I never thought I'd be saying this but is it possible to change the unit mix of the Parthian armies a wee bit ? Out of all of those stacks, right now they only have 3 full stacks left. Now, I've had some cracking and at times nail biting battles against them but I've been thinking that I've been able to beat them too easily, and thats partly due to my tactics/armies units being right but also with the AI fielding armies with lots of Saka/Dahae horse archers and few cataphract/Armoured horse archers or cata/armoured heavy cavalry. Also only one of the AI parthian armies have had any armour upgrades to date and watching their cat's and saka heavy/elite cavalry crash into my units was wincing.

    1. This has been the typical Parthian army but they usually have 1-2 more cat or Saka Heavy cavalry units. As you can see no armoured or cataphract archers.

    2. Again, in my opinion not enough heavy cav/cat's and again no cat/armoured horse archers.

If we can change it a wee bit that'd be great, even if it was to give them armour upgrades.

    Cheers

Ok, I provided them with an armor upgrade in their barracks.

    dvk,

Have had 2 battles against Parthia since the change and my has it made a difference! Their now spot on...they were tough before but right now I'd say spot on. A wee bit harder to beat but still beatable and for the first time since I started the campaign I lost 3 units in a single battle against them and took quiet a few losses esp - my horse archers and heavy cavalry. I ntoiced that they also didn't rout as easily which was good and as you'll see in the screenshots.. this one went right to the wire.... well it felt as if it did and I won partly down to the clock running out!

Here's an example of two "new" Parthian armies....

Oh, finally done something about what I have long said that! This method works fine and it can be done for the Spartans in the Macedonian campaign, too!

DVK's change to teh Parthian's has been great .. I'm having to seriously pick and choose my fights against them. I've won a couple just as easily as befoer but others have gone right to the wire and I've only "won" or should I save saved by the cavalry. Since the change .. I;ve noticed that the Parhina's now have more cataphract units (inc. horse archers) and not soo many Saka horse archers and thats been a nice change and I'm assuming thats soley down to the AI.

Again... I'm, now loosing units and even my unbreakable Companions are having a tough time and a first .. my general loosing 2 chevrons (I had one companion cavalry and the general counter charge a 3 unit Cataphract stack before it crushed my right Thoratokia flank. I had the same problem on the left as well! The general was last man left and my companion cavalry unit routed (3 left) so I had to pull him out b4 i t was too late. Before the change .. I would have defeated that Parthian army fairly easily and with not too many losses but not now.
