Default Early, High, and Late Units

So i was wondering when playing early era campaign at what point in time are you allowed to start getting high era or later era units, like for example as England when will those archery building start yielding longbowmen... So what im asking is, is it a specific turn or is it more of a number of guilds?

Aside from obvious limitations like the different tiers of barracks, castles and cities units generally tend to be tied to certain events (like gunpowder) which in turn are tied to a certain year. After that and for specifics it really depends on the version you are playing. Longbowmen most often are first available as mercs in Wales and only later on as a generally available unit.

Yes... usually the gunpowder event comes before the high level cities and barracks are built. Even if you have those or build them soon after it takes the pools awhile to fill up so those units become available.

Eventually everyone will have those units but it usually takes many turns after the events enabling that you see them in large numbers.

Imho you should ask for the year unless I'm completly mistaken on how the events are handled. Basicly with a 12TPY mod (yup, twelve) it would take you that much longer to reach gunpowder.

Well 100 or so turns at 1.5TPY means 150 years from the start at 1080, so it should be around 1230 or so, give or take a decade.

Ya, but you can always just fiddle with the turns per year in the descr.start in the campaign folder... I like to add about 1500 years to the campaign (ending 2600 :O) So I don't have to like blitzkreig everything lol I think if you mess with the turns per year tho that the ages won't well "age" properly and maybe the events will mess up so if you want more years, just add more years

    No, 6.3 is 1 TPY.

Yeah, that is where alot of factions switch from spear militia to urban militia, etc. Most of the higher up castle units are unlocked with 1/2 plate, and full plate events if my memory servves me correctly. It also depends on the faction you are using.

Full plate is much later, after 1450.

Its turned base im sure but seeing as its 1 TPY then it doesnt matter?

    event historic HALF_PLATE_ARMOR
    date 90 110

Thats the half plate one. Meaning it will trigger 90-110 turns in. This is for Late Campaign btw.

Events are turn based. The number is how many turns after the start of the campaign I believe. But since its 1TPY, it really doesn't make a difference
